Buying from a 3rd party through the mail.
I know it's risky and not advisable, but how many of you have bought from a 3rd party through the mail? Any experiences getting burned going this route?

It does carry some risk.
How'd you find this guy? Craigslist or something?

Really talking about the tickets that get posted here on ePlaya, but not ruling out craigslist.

Buy from someone in your own country, as money transfers get expensive.

There are an awful lot of scams out there. Even if you have some recourse with a credit card company, scammers have been known to send empty envelopes with return receipt and tracking on it. When you complain to your credit card company, the scammers produce the tracking and receipt. Be careful doing any third party purchases. Everyone sounds convincing and sincere, but you really don't know who you're dealing with unless you're face to face.

Read this post, and then this post.
We pull listings from the board all the time that are either sketchy, dodgy, or don't meet our posted guidelines (see the links above). That helps to reduce risk, but there's no way to eliminate it altogether. Read the info and use your head, and you should be okay. Good luck!
