Two cyclists looking for a ride from Reno, and theme camp

Post by brt » Tue Jul 15, 2014 10:16 am

Hi,

We're two guys (32 & 28) from Amsterdam, and we're currently on a two-month cycling adventure, from Banff, AB to Burning Man. We're riding our bikes through the Rocky Mountains to Colorado from where we'll take the Amtrak to Reno. We're considering biking from Reno to BRC, but our bikes are fully loaded with sleeping bags, camping stoves, tents and bear spray; there's no way we can get a week's worth of food, water and other supplies on our bike to Burning Man. Another friend from Amsterdam joins us in Reno. He has no bike but he (and his stuff) would also like a ride.

We are looking for people who can help us get some of our stuff from Reno to BRC (maybe including ourselves + bikes).

Oh, and if at the same time you could hook us up with a theme camp: that'd be awesome. It would be great to join a camp to make our first Burning Man even better. Of course we would like help with cooking, cleaning, or whatever's needed. And we can sing Dutch songs and dance Dutch dances.

Thanks from Helena, MT!

Also check out the link in my signature for a camp aimed at first time international burners that's looking for new people. It's a pity you aren't coming directly from Amsterdam or I'd ask you to bring some stroopwafels :)

if you have early arrival passes, and tickets, I'll be going through Reno to the playa on Aug. 15, and again early on the 16th.
watch for a green (color of your dumptruck pic) fire truck with camper, wave and scream.

Aproxamatly what time do you think you'll be crossing the state line? Both days. Gonna try to work for OT on the 16th.

15th probably crossing the state line around 8 am, with flatbed pickup carrying monument and a white baby grand piano, followed, or following, a blue ford pulling a blue stagecoach.
16th, probably 5 am, Frankencamper and dark blue school bus with full deck and railing on top

Brt, whatever you do, do NOT try to ride your bicycles from Reno to Burning Man. That road is narrow, and has no shoulder, and a bicycle would be a serious safety hazard out there, specially with the heavy traffic of Burning Man participants. I agree you should get signed up for the Burner Express bus right away. Best of luck.

I'll look for you on Friday. I'll be on the Vine St overpass just east of Keystone. I'll have my Ford p/u, tan with a fire engine red shell. I'll be there around 7:30ish.
Saturday I'll look for the Fankencamper in the Virginia St tunnel where Wallgreen is over the freeway. I'll be working then.
