To be delivered and picked up
To be delivered and picked up
We (a group from Europe) want to rent an RV, but we could not get an insurance binder, so we can not drive it.
The owner of the RV offered to deliver and pick up us with the RV, toving a second car on a trailer, to leave with, after having delivered us.
If we find tickets to him, that's ok.
Id we don't succed to get ticket, do You think, it will allowed him to drive us into the playa, and leave right away.
His car, and his friend would wait at the gate, as hostage.

I seriously doubt it. No ticket, no entry is pretty much the deal.

Re: To be delivered and picked up
Yep owner would need a ticket and if owner is brining a passenger, you'd need a ticket for them or the entire vehicle might get turned away. Per the gate FAQ: "If you are giving someone a ride to Burning Man, including ride shares and hitchhikers, please be sure they have a ticket or you may end up driving back to Reno to drop them off. Leaving them at the Gate or in Gerlach is not an option. Washoe County Sheriff will be watching out for people loitering in or around Gerlach."
In addition they would need to pay for a "In-and-Out Pass" ($20/per person) or else they would not be able to re-enter the event later in the week.
Here is the Theme Camp Delivery FAQ that covers a lot of the issues that you might need to deal with. http://burningman.com/themecamps/delivery_faq.html

Re: To be delivered and picked up
they need to already be registered (there's no time now) with the event management as a vendor, for a vendor pass.

This is a requirement of the BLM (Bureau of Land Management), the arm of the Federal Government that controls the land Burning Man is held on. If your vendor does not already have a vendor pass, they will not be allowed into BRC (they would need tickets, as stated above, as well).theCryptofishist wrote:they need to already be registered (there's no time now) with the event management as a vendor, for a vendor pass.

Re: To be delivered and picked up
According "Delivery options" there are three options to be delivered.
http://burningman.com/themecamps/oss.html
OPTION 2: ONE-TIME USE DELIVERY TICKET
How does this option work? Using a credit card, the delivery driver purchases an $850 one-time-use refundable delivery ticket and vehicle pass at the Box Office of the event. The delivery driver than has six (6) hours to deliver their goods and return to the Box Office with their ticket and vehicle pass and credit card to have the cost of the ticket refunded.
That's fine. But how we will be picked up on the exodus day? Is there this one-time ticket option still available?

I don't think this will work but no one on here can answer for sure. Email outsideservices (at) burningman.com. They are the experts.

I'm sure that there's a procedure in place. They want you to get your stuff off the playa.

Re: To be delivered and picked up
As other said the only way to be certain is to contact the BMORG, but I don't think option 2 will work for a few reasons.
1.From the full description "A delivery driver may only buy one delivery ticket, so it is not an option for anyone needing multiple deliveries." Which sounds that the will take the drivers info when they get the ticket andd your driver will not be able to get a ticket the second time to pick you up.
2. In the past when they sold tickets at the gate, they usually stopped selling them on Friday. There might be an issue if they still have similar rules for selling one time use delivery tickets.
3. Depending on lines & weather it could take longer than 6 hours for them to get back during exodus.
Another option would be find a rideshare who can get RV insurance, local to where you will be picking up the RV and have them drive to and from the event. This way you won't have to fuss tickets for your delivery/pickup driver and you help get out a burner needing a ride.

The OP might want to look at this thread for a better idea. viewtopic.php?f=286&t=69547
You could help someone get to the burn and solve your problem without throwing money at your problem. Look for someone with a CDL.

Re: To be delivered and picked up
I don't think the one-time ticket can be used for two reasons:
1. The guy dropping off the RV has to have a second driver to bring him home, which means each would need a one-time pass. You cannot get it for him.
2. According to what I read you can only do this once - but theoretically a different person (actually two people) could do the pickup.
Your best bet might be to find someone who has a camp but just needs a ride to/from Reno. Maybe they can drive the RV using their insurance.

Re: To be delivered and picked up
If the box office is closed then somehow getting a second one-time ticket would not be possible. I am pretty sure the box office closes on Saturday. The guy would have to have a ticket to get in to the city. They don't let people in without one.andy wrote:I don't think the one-time ticket can be used for two reasons:
