Tickets did not sell via STEP. What now?

Post by ponky » Thu Jul 31, 2014 6:16 pm

Hy everybody!

I put two (Will-call) tickets into STEP on 07/21. Until now I did not receive any confirmation that these tickets have been sold. So I send a message to ticket support on the 28th to ask whats going on. They answered on the 30th:

"
The demand for Burning Man tickets always outweighs the supply for them, so please hang tight! You will be notified once your ticket has sold – tickets cannot be removed from STEP once they have been submitted.

The flow of tickets in STEP depends on how many people are selling their tickets back, and how many people signed up for STEP and buy during their 72 hour window. Sometimes it is hard to predict the rate at which people will both buy and sell their tickets within STEP.

If for whatever reason your tickets do NOT sell, you will be informed with alternate options or actions.

If we can assist further, please let us know.
"

At that time STEP was already closed for several days and any 72hour window should have been closed already. So what the heck is going on here?

Any message I sent to ticket support since then has not been answered.

What should I do now and has it been specified that unsold tickets can not be taken out of STEP anymore? If I had known this I would have never put my tickets into STEP but rather sold them directly somewhere else. There are hundreds of people looking for a ticket and now it's becoming such a pain to simply transfer a ticket.??!?!?!?!

cheers,
Jonas

You'll want to continue to work with the ticket support team. They're slammed right now with requests, so it can take a little more time than usual to get a response. Make sure to include your ticket # in any further emails you send. Once they confirm that the ticket did not sell and the #'s are still valid and live, you can work on finding a buyer in the after-market yourself.

As has been covered in multiple places, contributing a ticket into STEP is not a guarantee of a sale. Since the tickets are offered to the next person in the queue and they have 3 days to make a purchase before it's offered to the next person, you waited way the hell too long to make your decision - there was only a chance for the tickets to be offered to a couple people before the program closed.
