Any Burners from Florida?

Post by shamanlady+54 » Sun Sep 14, 2014 9:33 am

Hi to all fantastic burners! My name is Pamela and I have always thought of attending the burning man festival and never made it (yet). Would like to meet other burners to connect and hopefully make it to next year's burn - I live in S. Florida :) Am interested in all things connected to nature, shamanism, crystal energy, magic, music, art, dance - and anything else that translates to the "out of the box mentality". Have watched this year's live stream burn and some youtube videos on various prior burns and feel a longing to get away from the "corporate life" - into the magical realm of "burning man" Thank you!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome! Read as much as you can on here and the official burning man site. It helped me a lot. I'm from Georgia so we have about the same distance to travel. I drove across country and it was a great experience. I'm returning next year!

Thanks Elderberry and Schroom for your welcome! Love the mudskippercafe and photos ;) have been checking out the site and there is a lot of helpful info., which will take time to read and sort through - Am interested in joining a theme camp and helping out. What advice can you give to "newbies"?

I'm from NW Florida in Pensacola and am looking forward to hopefully going to my FIRST burn next year. I'm also looking for information on theme camps and possibly sharing my ride. I'm doing the cross country bit too.

On the trip across country I gave myself 2 days in each direction. A good tip is to figure how far you will travel and reserve a hotel or camp ground in advance. (i did both) I did tent camping and did just fine. Decide how you will camp (tent, other structure, rv) and read as much as you can on that.

Howdy shamanlady. I'm from central Florida. If you want to connect with more Florida burners a good place to start is our regional Facebook page. Search for The Florida Burns ** )'( ** PreHeat & Afterburn on Facebook. Another good place for information is www.burntorangesevents.com... that is where everything for the Florida regional burns is organized... well most of it... well some of it... that's where they sell the invites anyways.

Welcome!

Here's a good thread for you:

Please note, theme camps are optional. :)

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Thank you all for the welcome and useful information! Am actually looking for a local gathering near the Miami area. If anyone has a connection to that area, please send me a message. Much appreciated! :)
