New to Burning Man

Post by manictabor » Wed Sep 17, 2014 10:27 am

Hello Burners!

After years of dealing with my social anxiety, I have finally gotten myself to a good place and I want to enjoy it. I am planning on coming to my first Burning Man in 2015. My wife will be on her 10th burn and she has been getting me prepared. I can't wait to participate and get involved! Here's to diving head first into the community!

Hey! I had terrible social anxiety at one time in my life. It can still rear it's head from time to time. I've learned just to accept that. I hope to make my return to the playa in 2015 after a lengthy absence (temporary insanity or not enough insanity I'm not sure which). Anyway, welcome to the fray, I'm glad you're here. 8)

Congratulations on getting to a good place. :) Many Burners wrestle with social anxiety & have shared their thoughts and tips in this thread.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Manictabor, Welcome. If my husband decided to come with me I would despair. Best to keep your options open. I want you to bring a small pup tent and air mattress. You can set it up in our little camp of 3. When your lovely has a meltdown because she can't adjust to you being there, move in with us. (This is a sincere offer. No joke.) On the other hand maybe she will love having you there. Anyway. You have months to prepare and we are here to help. (And of course to feed off of, and live vicariously through your excitement.) Welcome!!
