Greetings from Toronto!

Post by Sanzen » Sun Dec 21, 2014 2:43 pm

Greetings Burners!

I'm a potential new burner from the Toronto area, and I can't wait for Burning Man 2015. I'm looking for a camp to join, (Lost Penguins, I'm looking at you!) and a sponsor to help me achieve this mission. I'm here for all the help and information I can gather before I head out west at the end of August for this most epic of festivals. I've had some guidance from the most excellent Mountie, one of our Toronto regional contacts, and am looking ahead to the next preparatory step - camp membership.

A little bit about myself: I am a self-made entrepreneur, a former career bartender/server, and restaurant management specialist/consultant. My interest in Burning Man is exploratory and open-ended. I look forward to what the playa brings, and I count myself ready for it. Any help/guidance from you all is welcome and most appreciative. Looking forward to meeting you all in 2015.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya?

Hey there Lucky 420. Love the handle.

I find I've gotten myself lost in the sheer amount of information here already.

Thanks Ratty! I'm excited.

I've been watching Burning Man from a distance for awhile, and in the last few months it's become an obsession. Glad to be here.

Hi Sanzen! :)

Did you apply with Lost Penguins yet? (Most camps don't cruise the Introduce Yourself forum, just us regulars.) I googled them and can see what you mean about needing a sponsor for that camp.

Bartending and restaurant management are valuable to the right place . . .

Hey Savannah,
Did you apply with Lost Penguins yet?
Not yet. I was unaware I could apply with them directly, though I do know you can apply directly to most others.

That's what I'm hoping as well. :)

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.
