Children/Play

Post by RosieHuz » Tue Feb 10, 2015 9:23 am

Hey guys

I know people bring kids to BM but I've seen a serious lack of info about camps that do play/fun stuff for kids! I'm a children's worker in England and coming to BM for the first time this year and I'd love to get involved with a children's/youth project at BRC, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Rosie :)

ePlaya search: "Kids" Kids at Burning Man?

Also look into Kidsville. It's a whole village dedicated to people with kids. Wristbands, safe play space, adult supervision, etc. Kids seem to do well at BM. :-)

What digital said. It's also probably worth mentioning that it's very early in the season, the vast majority of camps have not started posting anything about their 2015 plans yet. As we get a little further into the season, you can also expect to see some information in the Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter or the Burning Blog about the Black Rock Scouts and other family-related stuff that happens at the event.

Hi Rosie.
Pretty much what Digital and Trilo said, except for where we are all hiding now. ;)

Although there are kids at camps all over BRC, Kidsville is the camp for families with kids. Kidsville has two main outlets for information, a Facebook page (kidsville) and a yahoogroup (kidscamp). The blackrockkids site hasn't been updated in a few years and I don't think anyone remembers who has the keys to it anymore.

Kidsville is not a babysitting service.

Although having children of your own or a few you can borrow is the easiest way to get involved in stuff going on in kidsville, if there is a specific activity you would like to do or something you'd like to bring and/or share during the week you can stop by and check in with our mayor (Queen Dawn) and set up a time to do so.

Kidsville is not a babysitting service.

The Black Rock Scouts is another group within Kidsville that organises activities around the playa for kids and their accompanying adults. The link Trilobyte left is the yahoo group, there is also a Facebook page (black rock scouts) and a new web page at http://www.blackrockscouts.org/

Kidsville is not a babysitting service.
Black Rock Scouts isn't either.

If you have any other questions you can ask here or request to join the groups above. I'll keep my eyes on this thread as well. We have 3 years in kidsville and black rock scouts, and if I can't answer it I'll get you in touch with someone that can.

k.

p.s.
Kidsville and Black Rock Scouts are not babysitting services.
