Hello from Nantucket, Massachussets!!

Post by TheTinker » Sat Feb 21, 2015 12:02 pm

Hi everyone,

I am a dad with three kids (b&g @ 12, g @ 14) and we got our tickets and vp the other day!
I am very excited to go to our first burn - looking forward to bringing the kids into contact
with different and whacky ways of looking at and appreciating the world. We have done
a fair bit of solo camping rather than group but it seems it would be best to find a theme
camp to help with and camp with. I can't wait for the trip, my mind is on fire!
Here's to meeting up with new strangers and stranger friends. See you.

Welcome TheTinker. You'll have a wonderful time. Read up all you can on the preparation. There are links in my signature below.
By the way, how's the weather on Nantucket?

Holy Smokes! What an adventure to remember for a lifetime!
My favorite memories are camping with my family when I was a kid. I wish we had the opportunity to do more of it.

Aren't you the cool dad :)

Travel well, sending good energy so that your trip goes safe and smooth.
See you in the dust!

Thank you for your welcomes and encouragement. Being 30 miles out to sea makes it
a bit tricky to hook up with fellow burners in America. The weather is just miserably
cold, lots of snow and single temps, crazy slush today because of the thaw and
4 american degrees ready to move in tomorrow night and glass everything. Wuhu.

Welcome The Tinker, Yes. Definitely the coolest Dad ever. The only down side to this is that the kids will NEVER want to miss another burn. You are stuck with this crazy vacation for all eternity. Get to know us here and we'll hug you later.

Plus those little darlings will have a viewpoint that can't be understood by their peers. They will connect with adults better than their own age group. They'll pick up garbage on the street and tip their hat to the crazy homeless guy on the corner. (Yes they will start wearing hats.) Their clothing may take an unusual turn. Everyday objects will have a new meaning and a new use. Garage sales and 2nd hand stores will become their favorite shopping spree and all your future gifts will involve fake fur and led lights. ((Tinker and kids))

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome.

Look up the village of Kidsville, while a lot of families with babies and little kids camp there, they do provide a welcoming environment for older kids too.
