What time would you plan events?

Post by uncle sticky » Wed Mar 25, 2015 1:43 pm

Camp Settle This Like Men offers two main attractions:

Martial arts classes
Martial arts matches/sparring

Both are pretty physically demanding, and require contact between participants. Location will be in one of the theme camp zones, not esplanade or on a plaza. We'll be in the book, and get some foot/bike traffic with the frontage.

When do you think would be the best time to schedule these events to maximize interest/attendance? 2ish? Earlier? Later?

I feel like many of the physical events (yoga, sports, etc) are late morning. That said, a later afternoon or sunset martial arts class would also be very cool. If you're in a shaded structure, the daytime heat might not be too bad, but if in the open sun, mid day might be unappealing.

I agree with morning. Maybe evening, but lots of people are preparing dinner or for night activities.

You can advertise in the WWW guide a morning session and then maybe have a sign inviting people for an afternoon session just to see if there is interest. I find the afternoons so hot, all I want to do is laze around and drink cocktails. But that is just me :)

Well, there will be shade over the ring, and after the events, there is a bonding over whiskey.

I agree with everyone else: morning is better for exercise/ sports activities. Evening is more food oriented & evening prep oriented, so better for food/bar camp activities.

You wont know until the event starts how hot it will be. I, too, say morning, with the option for afternoon classes if it doesn't hurt to move.

Maximize interest by advertising an open bar / non-participant peanut gallery. It doesn't matter when people will show up to cheer and yell drunken insults.

12:43. That's the best time.
