Reminder! Placement Questionnaire Closes 4/28

Post by trilobyte » Sat Apr 23, 2016 4:59 am

Are you planning on building a theme camp, and are interested in seeking placement at Burning Man 2016? Have you already filled out your questionnaire?

If not... THE CLOCK IS TICKING!!!

Actually, it's been ticking the whole time... but the amount of time that you have left is running out fast! The Burning Man Department of Mutant Vehicles recommends that project leads do not wait until the last minute.... but we're already there. The form closes at noon PDT on Thursday April 28th. If you have not yet filled out the placement questionnaire for your theme camp, get cracking! Go here to access the questionnaire, and if you've never gone through the process know that it does take a while to fill out the registration completely. Even if you have gone through it before, it can take hours. Take your time, fill out everything completely, and make sure to include your camp layout where they ask for it so they can see what you're up to.

Already filled out the questionnaire for your camp but something has changed? Or upon review you realize that yeah, you probably should have given a few better answers? Contact the placement team using [email protected] and include the name of your camp as well as the sector you requested as your first choice (as you entered it on your application).

If you would like to receive a reserved spot for your camp or village, you’ll need to complete the questionnaire and submit it before the deadline. If you don’t care about being pre-placed at the event, and just want to camp wherever the wind blows you, you can forget you ever heard about this. Want more info? You can find out about theme camp criteria here, this section of the main site has great resources for camp planning, and we've posted placement questionnaire tips here.

As for getting events listed in the What, Where, When guides, the Playa Events Calendar typically opens up for new entries in mid-June. From there, the first 1000 or so entries are typically included in the printed guides distributed at the event, but all the events and listings are available in the electronic version (accessible online, as well as in the various smartphone apps made by awesome burners). Look for more details about the playa events calendar in the Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter in early June.

The placement questionnaire has now closed. Good luck to all those who've completed one, and remember that if you need to make a change or update your questionnaire your camp coordinator (the person who filled out the questionnaire) should send an email to [email protected] and include BOTH your camp name (as you entered it in your questionnaire) and the sector of your first choice in the subject line.

For example, a subject line of
"Camp Awesome Sauce 7:30 Sector UPDATE" = good
"Please update my questionnaire" = bad

The placement team will add the camp coordinator (as well as those designated in the questionnaire) to a mailing list that goes out periodically. The team may reach out if they have any questions (though hopefully your application is chock full of awesomeness, everything is clear, and they don't need additional info), and then theme camp placement is typically announced in early July.
