I Can't Find IT!!!!

Ever be doing something, or planning for something ( ) and say, " I need to dig that [....enter your thing here....] out of the closet, garage, storage locker, trunk of the car, under the sofa or out of the dog house, but not be able to find it? You can remember the last time you used it. And maybe even find a part, piece or container that goes with it.

But you CAN'T FIND THAT ONE THING YOU ARE LOOKING FOR!!! ANYWHERE! And you have torn everything apart looking for it.

In my case right now its my mono-pod. Its old but in good shape and a cheap one only costs $20 on Amazon. I don't need it right this second but I know if I buy a replacement when I do need to use it. It will suddenly appear, poof!! Usually right where I looked eighteen times already. But honestly, it's not there right now......

I know the feeling. My gf and I try to limit the stuff that falls into a black hole as much as we can. Most of our studio space is a pretty modular setup, with stuff organized in various bins/boxes by project type (and the same for our off-site storage. But in those times where something doesn't get put back where it belongs, we either consciously putting things into a more open or obvious place when we set them down (like in the middle of a workbench or the artspace island), or we say it out loud to the other person what and why we're leaving in a weird spot. I probably would have lost the digital calipers a dozen times in the last week if I hadn't told her where I was leaving them.

So I waited to buy a replacement [enter 'thing' here] to the last minute thinking it would show up. Nope! No show. So on my last Jungle order I added it to the list. It arrives with everything else, I unpack it and place it with other items to be loaded. Fast forward a week when I am going through the clothing in the RMC what do I find hanging on a hanger under coat?

That THING!!! THE MOTHER EFFIN THING!!!!

I'm not sure if this is good Karma or bad, but isn't always how it goes?? LOL

So today I'm leaving the house and complain to my husband that a whole bunch of stuff for my pack has gone missing. I've packed almost everything and didn't run across any of it. As I'm talking my gaze falls on the mannequin in the front room. She's wearing my Yoda backpack. That Bitch. She has all of my stuff. My compass, chapstick holder, retractable sharpie and everything else. I'll have to watch her.

I have this disease. For two weeks, at least, I've been looking for the key to my bike lock. I KNOW I've seen it, I see it all the time but it's nowhere in my camping stuff, bike stuff, junk drawers....it was hanging on my fridge. Where I walk by it multiple times a day.

I went to buy a set of locks that wouldn't fill up with dust. I balked at that $30 for 2 or 3 keyed alike. So instead I grabbed a can of 'air' off the computer table and a can of silicone spray from under the sink.

We did not do neighborhood threads this year. The burnermap FB app (one of the few things you can do on FB with no data mining) and the unofficial BRC map (which has shitloads of data mining, as it's using google map tech) should be able to sort you out. On BurnerMap, once you're logged in click on the 'show all camps' tab - that won't show you anyone's name (because it respects privacy), but it will show camp names and addresses. You can sort by address, or sort by camp name.

Bike lock key - check your utility belt/playa belt, that's where I found mine
