Anchoring Down Steel Tube Frames

Post by krazyj » Sun Aug 21, 2016 6:03 pm

Hi all,

I'm thinking of buying this canopy frame (made of steel tubes):

It comes with this appliance for the frame tube's feet:

...but I have no idea how to anchor that down.

Any thoughts on what I should use to anchor these tubes down?

(I also assume this frame might need guy lines? If so, I'm capable of that, at least...)

Have a wonderful burn!

Just like any other, Pound rebar or lag bolts, then ratchet straps for the frame. Search for EMT structure.
2nd time better than the first. And the first was pretty Freakin' Great!

When you say 'pound rebar', what specifically are you talking about? Running guylines from rebar stakes in the ground, to the frame?

Also, when you say 'ratchet straps', do mean to use ratchet straps on the frame itself to ensure that the frame stays together?

Thanks for helping this rookie along. :)

Burning since 2011, Haven't seen an EMT structure anchored. Asking a rookie question a week before the burn.

Everything you ask is in the topic area you posted in. Pictures too!

Hop to it!

You'll need to see how that canopy is pieced together. Some frames, such as Costco carports, have snaps that keep the structure connected together, so you can bolt the feet to the playa and put some cross-braces up. Others like probably that you listed, rely on gravity or the tarp to hold things together (or guylines). After all, there are eyelets on there.

And yeah, there are over 9000 threads about EMT structures.
