And here I though it would be nice to see a Young Republican's camp!

Re: Newbie looking for Christian camp
I am unaware of a specifically christian theme camp. There used to be a jewish one, and I'm guessing you would find a number of buddhist ones.
But if you can, I think you should absolutely start one. It can be something as simple as you and 3 friends. After all, what could be more of a "Radical Ritual" than to have Wednesday night bible study on the playa.
Have you read the Christianity Today article on Burning Man? I thought it was fascinating and very respectful of the culture of the event:

Fuck C.T. In my day people knocked on your door Inviting you to join them in prayer. This stupid organization, (Christianity Today), let me read half the article then cut me off. I can see the rest only if I subscribe. It's not really an effective marketing ploy when there is a milk-toast lifestyle being peddled. Welp. Fire and brimstone for me. For the sake of a nail, the battle was lost.

NP. You might try reaching out to the author. Even if there's not a specific camp this year, he might have some other contacts for you.gobucks2073 wrote:Great article....ty for the link.
One thing about burners, a personal message for help or advice or even just thanks for their work, and most will be there with advice, help, invitations etc.

There are about 1000 placed camps and the rest are unplaced. Some of the placed ones from last year are here: http://burningman.org/culture/history/b ... eme-camps/. Just reading the descriptions is entertaining!

Re: Newbie looking for Christian camp
There are a few camps you should check out - while they are not exclusively "Christian", you might find what you are looking for:
Camp Beaverton - a sacred space for wayward girls seeking redemption in Christ
The Downlow Club - where every morning is spent down low praying for forgiveness
BloAsis Village - dedicated to blowing away Satan's stranglehold on today's youth
Comfort and Joy - a fun and UP camp which is more about celebrating God's goodness - kind of like your high school church group
Camp Beaverton - a sacred space for wayward girls seeking redemption in Christ
The Downlow Club - where every morning is spent down low praying for forgiveness
BloAsis Village - dedicated to blowing away Satan's stranglehold on today's youth

If you bring the Eucharist to BDC & Wine Bistro ... You have all the tools for Communion.
I'd seriously consider returning if someone pulls off a christian naked tiki bar with daily services.

I just snorted a good helping of ice tea out my nose. Thank you so much!
A plan is what you vary from.
Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

Radical Inclusion
Anyone may be a part of Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community.
I, for one, am willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt until they turn out to meet my prejudiced expectations.
Re: Newbie looking for Christian camp
ahem.
Radical Self-expression
Radical self-expression arises from the unique gifts of the individual. No one other than the individual or a collaborating group can determine its content. It is offered as a gift to others.
Everybody is welcome to participate, and everyone is entitled to the same treatment!
My gift to the Christian Community....

Re: Newbie looking for Christian camp
I'm sure you can find many like minded folks.
It'll take some work, probably, in that folks tend to enjoy dissing your religion, and so Christian folks probably tend to keep a lower profile.
You might check any spiritual camp you can find. I'd bet they'll know of others, and can direct you. Well, I'd hope they'd direct you.

Or you could take off the comfy old slippers and walk in the shoes of folks who don't share the same beliefs.

Since when do we tell people with a genuine interest to not bring their interest to Burning Man? (besides DJs)
And frankly, attending an event where more people probably believe in the healing power of crystals than the world's largest religion, is already walking in the shoes of others. No one tells the drummers not to drum circle together. No one says, hey poly people, why are you so close-minded you have to camp with PolyParadise. The literal structure of our city is based on people with similar goals and interests camping together.

Of my 10 years on playa I've only once camped with like-minded folks.
You are so selling yourself short.

I thought i detected a bit of a double standard when it came to the OPs interest. If it was not intended, my apologies.Token wrote:

That said, if my camp mates suddenly decide we're a healing crystal camp, I'm burning it the fuck down.

Re: Newbie looking for Christian camp
You might want to camp with United Site Services. They seem pretty Christian based on how much they say "Jesus" in the blue rooms.
