Yep another virgin into the mix
Yep another virgin into the mix
Hello another virgin here getting my feet wet diving into the knowledge bank to prepare myself for the playa. My goal is to make my first trip to burning man in 2018 leaving me I hope plenty of time to make all the needed preparations. This has been a fun and addictive place to be as I am absorbing all the tips and hints for a successful journey. Been workin on creating a hit list of necessary items be it shelter, food and clothing. While researching equipment and reading the typical sales pitch on the internet, one questions pops up. But can it survive the playa haha…
There has been a burning desire to break my daily routine of work, sleep then back to work. The camping bug has taken hold and that started its own research. Then a past memory of the burning man event, at first just knowing a small basics of what is burning man. So deep into research mode I go between reading online articles and YouTube from all perspectives that relate to burning man. As more information I found the more I liked what started as thoughts of a fun challenge to survive the week of burning man with the principal of self-reliance. Turned into a opportunity to just unplug from the default world and relax and recharge around like minded people. Not sure if I'm creating unrealistic expectations or not but time will tell.
That's a little bit about me and what will become my journey, living in the Sacramento valley my plan is to attend some of the regional events in 2017 to meet burners and continue my learning process.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Islandboy, welcome to ePlaya. You are so lucky to live near Sac with all the great burners and events in the area. I suggest you start with facebook. Join some of the sacramento sites and you'll find 100 friends and year long list of events to keep you busy.

Thank you for the welcomes. Yes Ratty it does look like I have many regional options to take part in to start meeting more burners. My crazy work schedule does get in the way of having too much fun, good thing for vacation time off. Now I have some fun future events to prepare for compared to staycations at home. Let the fun begin...

The Sacramento Valley Burner Meet Up is the first Thursday of every month (next one July 6th) at Bennie's Grille on Q Street between 20th and 21st street in Midtown. Kicks off around 6:30. There will be a small army of us there for sure. Come by and I'll gift you a BRC sticker complements of Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro. Hope to meet you there. Just ask for Doc and some knucklehead will point you in my general direction (usually towards the bar).

Thanks for the info Doc, working swing shift does get in the way at times and will try to get the day or night off to attend the local meetup.

Good news shipping info update on my shiftpod 2.0 is in the works. The first of many items on my list to try and catch while on sale. One of the major purchases check off the list, hopefully it may be here for naked man in the area. Time off request done and submitted for 2018 BM, simple thing like having vacation time approved for a step out of my box bucket list item. Next project is to start building a swamp cooler for my tent.
