Mutant Vehicle - Insurance
Mutant Vehicle - Insurance
I'm looking for mutant vehicle insurance for this years burn.
We used Fractured Atlas last year and they aren't doing policies for mutant vehicles this year. Eventhelper.com was referred to me as well and they also said they would not insure mutant vehicles.
I found another company that said yes, but it was 25K for a policy.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Mutant Vehicle - Insurance
Is this for liability only? As in, if you hurt someone with your vehicle, you will not be on the hook? Sounds pretty difficult to acquire...and depending on the size of the vehicle and the size of your group, $25k might not be the worst deal.
Here is an ePlayan who claims to have found insurance for 1/10th the cost of Fractured Atlas: viewtopic.php?t=8379#p1131957
Based on my limited personal experience with insurance companies, if you want insurance you need to be moving FAST AND HARD NOW.

We used StateFarm... not sure if that helps, but they've worked fine for us.

Worked fine as in you made a claim and they paid?Indigoqueen wrote:We used StateFarm... not sure if that helps, but they've worked fine for us.

I’m sure anyone will issue a policy but no one will honor it the moment you go “off road”.
I’m pretty sure there is fine print in that 32-page contract somewhere that limits the policy and excludes off-road use.

Crimson Insurance has insured my MV for the past two years. Also my Art. Very knowledgeable about Burning Man so that helps in defining the policy. You can find the Agent here:

No experience, and no connection.... Heffernan Insurance Brokers has been mentioned many times over the years as "Burner friendly".

State Farm has off-road insurance. We've not had to make a claim...thankfully!

I’ll have to call them up and see the rates for my quads and side by side.Indigoqueen wrote:

Interesting sidenote: This same company also beat out several other agents in securing quotes for general liability to insure a competitive axe throwing range.maladroit wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2017 6:01 pm

If you need insurance, for just about anything, call Crimson. And they're also Burners so you get bonus points when you give them your money.
