Well technically it's usually abandoned and quiet out there

I know that feeling. I was out on the playa in 2008 a month after Burning Man ended. I drove fast then got out of the van and just enjoyed the wind. I found the circle where center camp was and saw lots of orange cones that probably meant the moop needed attention.
It was great seeing it, but I imagine if you lived nearby, it would be an extremely boring trip.
Interesting foot note: I stopped into the Empire Store just because, and the metal grill was down as I opened the glass door. I could hear lots of smashing sounds, and it turns out that the stores was being ransacked over a dispute with owners and operators. I didn't know it at the time, but that turned into a major incident.

Not me, Meat Hunter. I love it out there when the place empties out. (And the cacophony of noises goes away!) I pack at a leisurely pace, and enjoy simply being in that lovely desert a day or two longer than I absolutely have to.
And this year, one of my wonderful "This one time at Burning Man" experiences happened Friday, only a few hours before I left.
