Hi Friends,
Have been digging out all of my playa gear from the garage and am starting to get organized for this year's burn. I recall some magic formula of water and vinegar for cleaning playa dust off of metal, fabric, and plastic. Does anyone know offhand of the ratio of vinegar to water? Any recommendations of what type of vinegar is best? Are there any other concoctions you recommend for cleaning playa gear?
Thanks!

Compressed air. If you don’t have an air compressor, get one... a blow gun works wonders on dusty gear.

Though people tout using apple cider vinegar for every malady you should probably just use some cheapo white vinegar. Who knows what ratio you need to use because vinegar comes in different concentrations. Just experiment and use your nose to see if it still smells like vinegar, and your eyes to see if it's helping to cut through the playa.
I also use water and dishwasher soap.
And yeah, compressed air. I also like running a mini shop-vac to suck away the airborne playa once it's blown out of the stuff.

vinegar and Calgon water softener, found in the laundry aisle.
Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

I bought one of these and when I was done killing weeds, I pried the top off, filled it with vinegar, and sprayed my tent down. It washed the dust right off.

Another vote for blowing the dust out. I switched the hose to the vent port on my big shop vac and blew dust out of the engine compartment of my vehicles and the rugs we used in our camp. I did use a white vinegar/water mix to clean off the tarps. Used a damp mop approach for around 1,100 sq. ft. of tarp surface.

Air
Warm / Hot water. Ask the bike camps how they clean 3K bikes after burn. Hint - they don't use vinegar.
