Latitude coordinate for 2018?
Am making a sundial for the burn. Does anyone know the exact latitude of the man this year?
Make it, enjoy it, let it go.

That datum will not be posted until the golden spike gets placed in early August.
You can get approximate data from last years Google Earth and whatnot.
You can get some historical data from William Keller’s site and the work he did on GPS maps :

Re: Latitude coordinate for 2018?
Best I could come up with for my BRC Sun- Rise/Hourly/Set Heading & Elevation map was:
How accurate are you expecting.
I found an observable change between the location of 2015 vs 2016/2017, but between 2016 and 2017 the azimuth difference was less than the width of the line.
Is there much variance in a sundial based on the values for 2016 vs. 2017?
Their difference vs. the difference through the week?
If you get a confirmed lat & long for 2018, please publish here.
- 2015: 40.8060136, -119.1542816
2016: 40.7842516, -119.2007847
2017: 40.7854981, -119.2064667
2018: 40.7839267, -119.2096253 - UNCONFIRMED (and, I didn't note the source...)
- 2015: 6:21:25 am, 7:32:22 pm, 181.28 & 58.08
2016: 6:20:25 am, 7:34:30 pm, 181.03 & 58.54
2017: 6:20:12 am, 7:34:55 pm, 180.99 & 58.63

Re: Latitude coordinate for 2018?
Thanks for all the input. According to Mr. Google, a degree of latitude (at 38 deg.) is equal to 364,000 feet. Using Canoe's coordinates, the difference in latitude between 2016 and 2017 amounts to about 450 feet -- close enough to not significantly be a problem, given the size of the gnomon. I will still look forward to an actual number so I may have it correct when printed (it is a small, business card size sundial.)
If Token, XPTom, or Canoe would like one in advance, PM me with a mailing address.
Thanks again.

I will not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone . . . there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
