I've seen people arguing online about the dumbest crap I've ever seen or heard, and I'm saying this as a person who spent a few years stuck living in a place where the locals were so inbred that DNA tests were not admissible in a court of law. I mean, holy crap - Flat Earth? An alleged Jewish conspiracy (which I was supposedly in on) to destroy the White race by "getting Black man on top of White women" (actual quote)? Or, my personal favorite - the guy who wanted to seriously argue that getting shot in the head and dying would not be a misfortune? These are arguments that real people really wanted to have with me online, and when I hear shit like that, there's only one thing to say.
"That's nice."
My experience of Internet arguments is that they are 99.999% insane bullshit from people who are either trolling, unable to function in the real world, or who just live to argue. I don't have time for that. I'm not going to make time for that. Some people accept this. Other people get offended, and don't seem any happier when I give them some helpful advice for how to deal with the turmoil that my unwillingness to snap at their bait has brought into their lives.
"You could always stick a gun into your mouth and pull the trigger."
I'll say that with a bright, sunny Midwestern smile on my face, in a cheerful tone. Yes, I know exactly how creepy that delivery is, and that's what I'm going for. Because I want people like that and those who enable them to go away, far away, where I don't have to hear their craziness, any more. Or, to actually pull the trigger and win that Darwin Award.
Hey! I keep hearing that's not a misfortune, so why not? No harm, no foul.

I'm going to be blunt and you can deal with it or not. I don't care much, either way. While ePlaya gets visited a lot, and there is therefore some virtue to posting to it, the community on this board has gained a reputation for itself over the last twenty years, one that has traveled far and wide, and it's not a good one. To quote one of your own former moderators.

its obvious the quality is low - if measured by the total number of posts its almost non-existent. people have to want to be part of it for your initiation ritual to work fishy, there has to be some compelling reason its worth it. its not, and that makes it rather pathetic.
you're mistaking not being able to take it with not wanting to be around loosers and assholes.
Why would I want to have an experience like that?
Not being a masochist, I'm not here to have a conversation with any of you. I'm not here to get the attention of the regular contributors, most of whom I imagine I'll end up blocking and with good reason. I'm just here to share content and events with the lurkers passing through. Period. I'll post stuff that I hope people will like and then walk off without a dialog. Accept this, don't accept this, I really don't give much of a fuck. Just enough to go to your profile, push a key and make you disappear off my screen. That much and no more.
If some good people find their way to events through the announcements and links I leave behind, cool. I'll be happy to go on leaving them. If, on the other hand, the mods decide to prove how powerful they are by deleting inoffensive, on-topic content, then to Hell with them and ePlaya. I'll just post somewhere else. It's all good.
And fuck your day.
