Floating Playa Brains want your dreams!

Post by RevDusty » Mon Jul 18, 2005 1:19 pm

Hi all!

I am creating a project for this year involving brains on spinal cords out in the far playa that will speak from the subconcious and unconcious.

I would love to get *your* dreams, thoughts, and sub- and unconcious feelings, rationalizations, and motives for the project.

It's easy!

Most computers now come with a microphone built right into it. The best way to do this is to quickly and simply just speak to your computer. Don't script it! Just speak in a stream of conciousness into the microphone built into your computer. If you have a laptop computer built within the last 8 years or so, then you most assuredly have a microphone built-in, even if you didn’t realize it as it is usually quite small and non-descript. Recording is as simple as one mouse-click…I explain how below.

You can speak as long or as short as you like and you really should say anything you want. After all, we want to capture what you really think and feel.

Tell your dreams.
Tell the real reason you did something.
Tell someone how you feel.
Let yourself go and speak in a stream-of-consciousness.
Say whatever comes to your mind.

Send as many recordings as you want. The more the better!

I will be compiling the recordings and incorporating them into the project. I will let you know where to find the installation via email once that is known. Information will also be at our theme camp (more info later) for those interested.

You can send your audio file(s) in whatever format works for you. If you are uncertain about any options, just use the defaults. If you are more comfortable with your recording software, the MP3 format is preferred.

How do I record a file?
Here are some simple instructions for recording and sending an audio file on your Windows PC (Mac users already know how to do this, I think).
1. From your Start menu, choose “All Programs”, and then select “Accessories”.
2. Look for a program called “Sound Recorder”. (It’s possible that it might be located elsewhere. You can also start it by going to the Start Menu, selecting “Run…”, and typing “sndrec32” and pressing enter.
3. Press the record button (it is the only button that is not dimmed out), and start speaking.
4. Press the stop button when you finish.
5. Save the file with a name and location that you will remember.
6. Send me an email ([email protected]) and attach the file you just created.
7. Add any notes that you care to.

What if I can’t record and I still want to participate?
If you can’t record, you can also send in a written submission and I or someone else will record it.

Thanks Much!
