I've heard the FCC was out in 03 stomping on burners who were daring to broadcast radio signals...any know where I can get info on this nasty regulatory issue (past, present, future...)?
Cheers!
radio?
Maybe I was out of the loop in 2003 but as far as I know the FCC thing was just another romor that gets perpeptuated every year. As I understand, the difference this year was that the rumor was being driven in part by someone on the Senior Staff.I've heard the FCC was out in 03 stomping on burners who were daring to broadcast radio signals...
Piss clear did an article back a few years ago about this. I this it was real news at that point. But who can tell. Check their archives, I believe it was an opening issue maybe around 99 or 2000.

Radio
It seemed like there were a lot less stations last year, at least we couldn't pick up many where we were camped around 4:00. Radio Free Burning Man was broadcasting but their signal barely came in. I wondered if they has reduced their transmitter power or something. They were over in the 3:00 plaza, not far from us. Kind of a bummer, the radio at bman was always a highlight for me. You'd hear some really unique stuff.
