That's actually a good question. It is way too fine to be sand and it coats you like baby powder. But it is just the fine particles of the dried up lake bed.klondike_bar wrote:oh noes! not dust!
is it actually dust, or sand? cuz in toronto, dust is essentially all the little airbourne particles of crap that settle down after aout a week of floating around. (ie bite of kleenex particles, dead skin, etc)
Only one year was the wind so strong that the dust actually hurt when it hit my skin.
Just like most other things on the playa, you really have to experience it to understand it.
