Sloppy seconds, err, dusty seconds

Post by elnuevo » Fri Feb 28, 2014 11:09 am

Last July I was at a kick ass party w/ a bunch of dirty hippies in the Northern Cascades called the Southside Social & Barn Dance. At said party I met an older hippie called Flap. This gent is a perennial volun-slacker w/ the center cafe sound crew. Anyways to paraphrase Flap told me & my partner/gf JungleBunny, "you guys would love Burning Man! why don't you go?" 2 months later we were driving down 6:30 when we said 'geez this spot seems as good as any' & we pulled in. Some dude w/ a multicolored goatee comes haulin over to us (more paraphrazing going on here) & says "hey welcome home! you can't park here fuckwads. don't you see the (tiny, barely noticeable) flags? oh and, want a beer?"

Goatee man ended up being ThunderJesus. If you know ThunderJesus, well, I'm sure your life has also never been the same. Awesome dude, we talk to him by phone these days like once a month or so. If I were to die & have a choice as to who to come back as, you guessed it, it would be ThunderJesus. The man is walking sunshine. So anyways, there we were, 6:30 & I. Two fairly introverted birgins, setting up camp & wondering what we had gotten ourselves into. We didn't know anyone but Flap & barely at that. We made all kinds of mistakes; not enough ass cushion on our bike seats, not enough water, too much clothes, no costumes, no tutus, no trinkets to gift out & no reliable plan for shade. Then the Swiss occupiers showed up. 2 young fellas in a El Monte rental 31'. We ended up calling them Fire & Ice, or Angel & the Devil. One was drunk or high 84.3% of the time, the other finally relented to having one drink the night of the burn. One brought back a new girl almost every day & night while the other averted his eyes when bare beautiful boobies walked by. What a riot. We keep in contact w/ Geronimo(Angel) regularly as well.

Wed I got 2 tickets so now we are planning for Caravansary! Back in October I started looking for a Class A motor home (last year we borrowed a 23 foot travel trailer). In December I bought a 96' Pace Arrow, 35.44 feet long! Got a fab price & have been doing some mods on it for the burn already. My burn to do list is long but I'm excited: buy a trike bike for my Bunny & outfit both her bike & mine w/ EL wire, build a swamp cooler or 2 for the RV & test, build a monkey hut & test, find some costumes/tutus, checkout theme camps & communicate, ongoing coordination w/ Geronimo, ThunderJesus & 3 noobies we are planning to bring along as sacrifices to the playa.

The show must go on!

TL;DR - Sophomore burner from Olympia WA, glad to be here!

(This is also me http://np.reddit.com/user/elnuevom. cheers)

We welcome the stranger, but that doesn't mean we have to like them, nor they us, and that's alright. - AntiM
