Heh, I'm not sure what to say, really. I'm a bit shy.
I'm an aspiring burner from Saint Louis, Missouri. I've read about Burning Man for a few years now and finally think it's time to go ahead and initiate burn sequence alpha! I'm an illustrator and designer by trade but a romantic hippie artist asshole at heart. I have a whole lot of ambition and would really like to create either an art installation or a theme camp (I'm gonna' need some guidance from some experienced burners, probably) that'll be about conquering fear of some sort. But that's another story.
For now I guess this is just "HELLO" and "I'M VERY NERVOUS ABOUT GOING TBH BECAUSE I'M A GIANT WEENIE" and "GOSH THIS SOUNDS FUN"
Gosh, I'm a first timer! Waaah hello.

Hi Scamperscamp!
There are some good threads for an ambitious future theme camp builder here:

Welcome! Nervous is normal.

Welcome to ePlaya, Scamp! Love your avatar! That says quite a lot about you right there. And you introduced yourself well in writing also.
The general-purpose advice is to avoid over-committing the first year. But some folks have pulled off great theme camps and big art that way. I remember feeling fairly overwhelmed my first year. Then I pulled off a rather good theme camp with 25 people the second year.
Either way, it is fun, and it sounds like you are "one of us".
You should read the First-Timer information, specially the entire Survival Guide, and you should sign up for the Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter. And participate in discussions here on the boards.

Hi! I'm from St. Louis, too. Do you participate in the local community, Gateway Burners?
