Fake Burner
I want to apologize to all burners, I was stupid for thinking I fit in somewhere, and have put up many posts and replies you see this name on em, say what a fucking joke and laugh for i am an entertainer trying to be a musician, but people don;t wanna hear my music they just want to see me rock like angus, or play with my teeth like Jimi, and on the playa this year someone told me my art sucked and seriously wanted to fight about it. so im turnin in my matches. You all are real souls and are the reason for existence, I sold mine to the devil for Rock n Roll, but it was all a scam, just a needle in the haystack, nobody seems to like instruments anymore anyways.

Don't give up your art!
Fuck him is right. The real 'fake burner' is that asshole who dissed your art/contribution... and wanted to fight about it yet!!! What a fucking dickwad.
Sorry to hear about your plight with one frat boy. But why let one dickhead spoil your fun. I say rock on bro! However you choose. God or whoever gave you a gift, cherish it. Stand up, proud, and mighty.
(Afterall, just cuz W. won and were all gonna lose, doesn't mean we have to give up fighting what we feel is the good fight. Sorry for that political aside)
Music is a universal language. A means of communicating. Don't let one drunken, beligerant frat boy from stiffling your musical voice.
I say again.... "Fuck him all to hell and back!"
Peace be with you my friend.
Rock the fuck on!
Much love

Isn't making "art", or doing anything relatively creative, a perfect opportunity to rile up and otherwise distress people?
It can be a sociological challenge of sorts.
It's great to put something out there, and then watch peoples' reactions, and the less-than-flattering ones are always the most fun. Unless you're some kind of ______ that NEEDS universal accpectance and reverie in all that you try and do.
To me, all manner of confrontational, thoughtprovoking sound/visual art attempts are far more exciting than religious // political debates.
I lost track of my age,
soon I'll be dead,
Whats with the hairshirt?
d6,
bot of uninteresting proportions, but steadfastly unapologetic for bad haiku on a diff. thread no.less!

Nice catch, badger. I did leave out an important note in my sickness yesterday.
That's the reason I make art.
of course I should know better than to assume for anyone else, but I do adhere to enjoying the thought of artistically distressing possibilities.
and it is f-u-n (for me) to see what people do when presented with "art".
INteractive,subjective,literal,sound,written,
I suppose it's near-to-impossible to say what the reactions may be from any form of creativity.

I can attest to the the fact that D-6 has been clearing the Dance-a-torium dance floors by just showing up and playing. This year his physical assault on people with sound-scape was downright scary. He makes people say, "Hey bro, this aint music." But it's good to stir them up. Hit them with something they've never seen or heard of before. Blast 'em. Assault them with sound and scare them away from the club. Heh Heh Heh.
Bah! Psshhh!

It's far better to see *anybody* show up w/ instruments + ready to play than see someone wandering around aimlessly with a can of Idiot Oil + expecting to be entertained.
Fuck that critic, write a nasty tune about that squirrel. Outdance him.
Even the barfiest art beats none at all.

I feel your pain but at the same time don't try to downplay things you do not understand. I have been a dj for 9 years and a producer for 3. Both of these crafts have taken a lot of time and effort to learn. I am not perfect at either and have many years still to work and learn. I really dislike these sorts of stereotypes thrown upon dance music production it really just drives a rift further between to areas of music already considered to be at war. I have played bass for years and worked with trumpet and drums I understand the patience and time it takes to learn an instrument and believe me the learning curve is no different for dance music. Please don't take this as an attack but more a reflection of how your words are percieved.StonedHeart-BleedingBrain wrote:One takes hours the other years- one stays around for hours and the other years

Well, um, unless you have a listen here: http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... highlight=I'd say, where's your art buster? Because anyone who makes art is not going to criticize someone else's art, are they?
My ears are still bleeding. OK. There. I said it.
Look, I know that it's not a nice thing to *say but... that doesn't stop the bleeding either.
*NOTE: I need to cop to a personal prejudice about musicians making sweet, smarmy songs that caterwaul the praises and sacrifices of our uniformed boys by song smiths sittiing smug and secure 8+ thousand miles away from bomb laden Toyota car bombs and c4 packed mess tents.
Sorry, it just ain't resonating on this end.

i'll readily agree that it's a wonderful feeling when someone else appreciates your art or music, but my question is this:
isn't the making of the art the goal? isn't art about being in the moment and expressing that through the medium?
the fact that you make art and music is all that matters. it doesn't matter if anyone anywhere ever "approves" of it. you, in the being in the moment, change the world simply by the making of the art - no matter how it turns out.
PS i'd bet your art rocks, anyway!
