First time burner from Boston
First time burner from Boston
Hello, introducing myself, looking to get some insight!
This will be my first time at Burning Man. I have been doing my reading in the First Timer's Guide and have been signed up for Jackrabbit speaks for awhile now.
I am flying solo as well. I'm not too worried about this, but I am wondering the best ways to go about joining a camp are and if that is something I should continue investigating.
Thank you all!

Hi! Welcome to ePlaya.
Check out the regionals page on the burning man site. There is probably a burner community close to you somewhere. That would be the first place to start.

Sham is from Boston. He helped me out the last time I ran the Boston Marathon. But of course, you're judged by the company you keep.

Welcome, Belangd.
There's a good thread about joining a camp at the top of the 2014 Theme Camps forum.
viewforum.php?f=364
Theme Camps are optional. In exchange for a degree of enthusiastic themed work & a fee, you receive a bit of support.
You can also go solo (and be surrounded by neighbors anyway) or aim for somewhere in the middle--there are no-fee groups that are primarily social in nature.

You called that running?Dr. Pyro wrote:Sham is from Boston. He helped me out the last time I ran the Boston Marathon. But of course, you're judged by the company you keep.
Us Bostonians need to stick together. No one else can understand us!
There is no real need to join a theme camp, but you can look around and see if something works out. There are plenty of open camping spaces and you will immediately make friends with your neighbors.
Don't fret, it all works out.
Welcome to eplaya.

The meet-ups at CBC are great!
Also the Firefly regional is wonderful and the deadline for the ticket lottery is soon, if you're interested
