I can't help but feel bittersweet about that. On one hand, in the hands of noble people there could be a possibility of furthering the cause and helping artists to reach new heights... but if the people aren't noble, it's just an opportunity to boost profits and line pockets on the backs of producers, performers, and festival-goers. Bob's not noble by a long shot, I don't see him furthering any kind of cause unless it lines his pockets.

It's also worth mentioning that I don't consider Beatport's management to be innocents, either. I loved that site/service from the very start, and didn't mind paying what I felt to be a fair premium for high quality/high bitrate tracks that often were not available elsewhere. But as time wore on and more choices became available, they started playing games with pricing and cutting exclusive deals for content. It's one thing if the artist wanted to give them a limited window of exclusivity, but they were charging through the nose for it. These days, it feels like a chokehold. And for those who have particular tastes in music, just like with any record collection the bigger it gets, the harder it is to find the good stuff - the site has been more about catering to the lowest common denominator and charts than it has been about discovery.

The Crystal Ballroom was evacuated during a hip-hop show late Sunday night because of a structural problem with one of the venue’s support beams. The venue on West Burnside Street and 13th Avenue was hosting a show by rapper Schoolboy Q on Sunday night.
Someone noticed a crack in a beam supporting the venue’s floating dance floor, which prompted the evacuation.
No one was hurt. Several roads were briefly closed downtown as more than 1,200 people left the venue.Portland police officers arrived to help with crowd control and make sure everyone left the area safely. No one was arrested, and there was no property damage, police said.

The dance floor is known as a ball bearing floor which has springs and cables to tension the floor. Back when I was younger and spent time there the crowd could get the middle of the floor moving a couple inches up and down, to where it was hard to walk across.
