Beds?

Post by shonaeire » Wed Apr 02, 2014 12:59 am

Hi All
One of my friends has just dropped out of coming to Burning Man and as she was our driver, my other friend and I are really stuck! We were just about to put down a deposit for an RV but have held off now because we don't have a driver.
Basically, we need 2 beds and have no idea where to start looking!
Any advice/tips that can be offered would be really helpful.
Peace
Shona

My advice: abort this thread before you get torn to shreds.

Seriously, saying "we have no idea where to start" when you're on a webpage that has thousands, possibly tens of thousands, of extremely useful, information-packed posts on everything from tents to hexayurts to truck and car camping to air mattress to - yes, RV's - makes it seem like you're begging for the sort of hand-holding that eplaya is famous for holding in high disdain.

You're not stuck - you've got four months. Get ye to Google already.

And read the first timers' and survival guides!

ALSO: Your post from eleven days ago? You were offered some solid advice there. Why not read the answers people took their time composing instead of asking again elsewhere? Or at least show up in that thread to say "thank you" or give an update on the research you've apparently not done in the meantime?

I think someone is missing an opportunity to start a cottage business. Where's the guy that loves garage sales, has storage space and has working knowledge of what's needed to survive in comfort? All of these travelers willing to pay top dollar. They need help. You could even get the stuff back at the end of the week. (On playa).

Such a line of business already exists. It is called the Hotel industry.

Although, since that thread drifted into the same old rv argument, I can see why someone might not want to set foot there again.

Still, after a similar post within two weeks, it does make the op look like s/he needs a lot of hand-holding...

Wait a minute! I drive and I'm not about to put down a deposit on an RV. Looks like we have a match!

And actually, "all" you require is beds? Even that rings of elitism on the playa.

Why don't you camp? Based on your previous post you have a huge budget. For just a portion of that you could fly into San Francisco, get some awesome comfy camping supplies, as well as your basic survival supplies, and then take the Burner Express from San Francisco to the playa. If you can't drive then an RV doesn't sound like it's in the cards for you, time to start considering your other options.
