Facebook Withdrawal
Went cold turkey today, deleted all content on my Facebook page and then deleted the entire page. Too much of a time waster. Wonder how long it will take me to NOT start to sign on before I realize it is gone

I respect the motivation, but I just find it impractical (unless you don't go to any big public events). Hope it works out for you!

Re: Facebook Withdrawal
I had to suck it up and create a fb profile for the Pottie Project. I'm sticking to that program so I don't get sucked into the social networking vortex. CO convinced me it is a valuable tool for connecting to those who may be interested in helping out. That with Spark has already been a good move. I'm not bagging on fb to be sure, it's an excellent way to find people because of its popularity. Never say never, there may be a time that it can be again in your life.

Re: Facebook Withdrawal
Good luck! Regardless of the site, if you feel the internet/social media is becoming a time-waster... it probably is.
When I get really busy (with a project, or life in general), I try to put myself on a time budget. Close and exit all the smartphone apps completely (I keep them all in a 'social' folder), and don't keep browser tabs open on your desktop/laptop. Then allow yourself x number of minutes or hours per day (set a timer or alarm in your calendar app if it helps), and regardless of how many more interesting things there are to click on, put the brakes on when the time runs out.
If you do go back to Facebook at some point, I'd also recommend using the unfollow function to increase the signal to noise ratio. This way you still stay connected to the people and groups, but their posts don't show up in your feed. It's not that everyone is posting terrible stuff all the time, it's just that it gets distracting.
Good luck getting your schedule balanced out, and keeping social distractions at bay

Re: Facebook Withdrawal
I'll most likely create a new account after the old one is officially deleted with all its connections and I can start afresh. Just needed to clean break.

Re: Facebook Withdrawal
I didn't bother deleting my F-book page I just abandoned it. I never really used it anyway.
I remember my big brother telling me years ago… have at least one day a week when you don't turn on a computer at all, so you can stay "normal".
I think it was good advice.

I need to be on FB less. I don't think I'll ever delete it, too many family and out of the area connections on there.

Re: Facebook Withdrawal
It can waste time, but maybe the problem is that you're not busy enough doing something else to not care about FB?

Re: Facebook Withdrawal
My problem is that I'm too busy. We joke at times about going back to work just to get a rest.

Re: Facebook Withdrawal
I've unfriended people while drunkenly scrolling, because I realized that they were incredibly lame, and/or I hadn't had in-person or phone communication with them in over a year. One time I accidentally deleted my sister. Requesting her back was... embarrassing.
