Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hi everyone!
I am Captain Chaos, or CC for short. 2014 will be my wife and I's first burn. We're planning on driving our '82 Westy up from the San Diego area and are really looking forward to the experience! We've been lucky enough to secure tickets but like most people, have not had luck with a vehicle pass. Here's hoping things work out and we don't have to pay some a-hole scalper!
Hugs,
-CC

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
My name is Chuck and my chosen Playa Name is MoonTree. I've been a 'Burner' all my adult life, but have never been to the Festival. Always wanted to go. I'm an 'older' Atlanta Hippie and my 38 yr old Son who lives in Los Angeles went to BurningMan 2013, came back and called me telling me all the exciting things he saw and did, the he found out I've known about it forever. He said you gotta go! We are going together in 2014! So I said I would get the tickets. All good stuff, so amped we were going to do this together. I got my registration email link, clicked on the link at exactly 12 noon on Feb 26, was put in the queue, waited approx 45 minutes, then got the "Sale Over" screen! As everyone knows now the demand was huge and the sold 38,000 tickets in < 41minutes! BUMMER! The local Burner community in Atlanta suggested I sign up here and get on the forums to let people know my story. I understand and support the Don't pay more than Face Value to stop 'scalpers', so I won't be paying more than the cost plus applicable taxes/fees. I need 2 tickets and 1 vehicle pass. Any body that can point me in the right direction?

Welcome, everybody!
As for acquiring tickets: SIgn up for STEP when it opens. About that time we will open the tickets offered and tickets wanted threads here. Post in one and keep an eye on the other. Rub elbows with your local burners, never know when someone has to drop out and sell a ticket. There is always the OMG sale in August. Plan as if you WILL be attending, tickets come up all the time in the strangest ways.

I've posted 20-something times, but haven't properly introduced myself. Where are my manners?
My name is Hope, and I'm a resident of Brooklyn, New York. I teach music, and I adore skiing, dancing, drinking wine, giving dinner parties, and staying up late. 2013 was my first trip to TTITD, and I keep waiting for the afterglow to disappear, but it hasn't yet. I guess I'm just changed for the better, and for the long-term. I'm looking forward to 2014 being another amazing burn!

Dia daoibh a chairde!
I've been lurking for awhile getting suitably excited and informed for my first burn and I thought it was high time I interacted with ye lunatics. So here's my scéal:
Myself and a few friends have moved to Vancouver, Canada recently to escape the hardship of the old country and have found ourselves in the right part of the world to attend the Daddy of all festivals. We are all avid attendees of music/art festivals at home (check out Body&Soul, Life Festival, Electric Picnic - definitely some of the best weekends in Ireland if not Europe!) and could not be happier to have acquired tickets for Burning Man. My plan now is to buy a van for road trips etc. but primarily to transport our contribution of craic agus ceol (fun and music) to the playa. We will end up being a group of about 12 - 15 and hope to set up a wee Irish pub complete with iced Irish coffees and a playa friendly take on some Irish cuisine. We will also be spinning various genres of records; world, jazz, reggae, electronic, rock and folk to name a few. Also, a friend of ours living in SF has proposed including a liquid light show in our camp so it is sure to be a feast for the senses.
That's about it. I'm glad I've finally raised my head and I hope to contribute and attain advice on this here eplaya in the coming months.
Look out for us at Burning Man, we'll be sporting a big auld Irish flag.
Grá agus solas.

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Howdy, all. I'm Kent.
For the past 17 years, I've lived, worked and made art in Los Angeles. But just two weeks ago I moved back to my home state of Oklahoma while I spend a few months preparing to move to Italy for a couple years. Just before I'm scheduled to leave, however, there is The Burn.
Since 2000, I have tried and failed three separate times to make it to Burning Man, but 2014 is looking to finally be my year. I'm beside myself with excited anticipation, and I cannot wait.
Between the extensive research I've already done regarding preparation and the veteran troupe I'll be camping with, this very well may be my only post. My goal is to never ask a question that has already been answered, and it appears every question has already been answered...
And finally - a year ago while attending a festival with the same group of veteran burners mentioned above, an 8 year old girl (the daughter of one of my camp-mates) looked at me and declared my name was Fennel. Before I could really process what was going on, everyone started congratulating me for my first Playa name. I decided to run with it, and so hence the user name I chose when registering.
Very excited for my maiden voyage into this otherworldly experience, and equally excited to meet you all face to face in Black Rock City!

Hi there, I'm Owl. I live for the deep playa at night. I've been burning since 2008, I'll be bringing my first installation to the playa this year: Stargazers Anonymous. A deep playa reverie for wayward travellers, weary playa surfers and strung out desert shamans.

Hello everyone!
I'm from Sydney, Australia.
I've been around here for a while but not posted much before except for a couple of desperate pleas for help in the middle of the week last year when I wound up stranded in Reno after requiring medical attention. But those posts worked out pretty well, Canoe gave me some great advice and I made it back into the city on Thursday night in time to hook up with my now boyfriend on Friday night.
We're headed back together this year, organising our own trans-pacific camp it looks like, complete with art project.
So I'm all about the colour coded spread sheets right now! Actually I've recently realised that I am more excited about planning everything that I am about the actual reality of going to the event. Of course that will all change once I get there!

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hi Everyone. I've been trolling Eplaya for a while now so I figured it's time to start contributing. My name is Chris and I live in the Bay Area, I have been to BM once in 2011. My wife is a veteran burner, this year will be her seventh. That is actually how we ended up getting together, I had a crush on her for um..from the moment I met her, when we are friends she had told me that I would love BM so I bought my ticket. Shortly after I realized what a undertaking it would be to go, so who better to ask for advice than her? So we went out to dinner to discuss all I needed to know about being a burner, at the end of the date I worked up the testicles to kiss her and BAM! Here we are almost four years later, married and with a little bundle of joy named Marvel.
We skipped the last two years due to our wedding and then having a new baby. We are super excited to get back out on the playa this year. So hello everyone! Hope to see, hug, and exchange some love at BRC.

Great story! We got married on Playa last year, and it was a blast! We got together on Playa in 07, so it made sense for us to get hitched there as well.

My name is Carrie and this will be my first burn! I'm planning to ride my bicycle from the mississippi to the burn! Hopefully if I make it that far I'll be checking out the coast after the burn.
I volunteered to greet, but I'm looking for a project to join. Everything else I'm leaving to the fates
