Hello to all,
I am looking for further recommendations for dome options and have certainly explored the sites recommended through Burning Man info (Shelter-Systems, Desert Domes, etc.). I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge for pulling off something like this:

We are a first year camp, so affordability is a priority, but not necessarily a limitation. We just want to house a stage and guests as well as protect equipment/instruments.
We are a brand new theme camp this year call Camp ROCK STAR (www.camprockstar2014.com). We are hosting multimedia rock concerts every evening, complete with a magical stage, psychedelic lighting, video projections, and, of course, incredible musicians and bands. Our goal is to infuse the Playa with the incomparable energy of the live concert experience, and inspire other burners to take the stage. If you are interested in camping with us or performing with your band, visit our site and get in touch!
Thank you,
Curtis

There are lots of threads covering the construction of domes. Use the search box in the corner. Here's a thread to get you started.
At the very least learn about what size EMT to use to make a structure that won't collapse under load. Cost is always a factor, but the way things get really expensive is if you have to replace a destroyed dome because you were cheap on the initial materials -- let alone whatever damage occurred to whatever the dome was housing.

Re: NEW** Theme camp researching geodesic dome ideas
We had a small dome in our camp last year and one bit of advice I can offer is use an electric drill or impact wrench with a socket adapter to tighten all the bolts holding your dome together so you don't have ratchet them by hand. But you probably already knew that.. I guess I probably don't have much to offer you on the subject of domes...
BUT I think the theme of your camp is totally freaking awesome!!
I'm always on the hunt for more Rock & Roll on the playa. I will be looking for Camp ROCK STAR.

think about oversize bolt holes, washers, long bolts to pull it all together. Deep socket wrenches. Do the bolts point out and tear fabric, or in and cause head wounds.

Or, do a garage sale, buy some old tennis balls, and stick 'em on the low-hanging bolts. Those little Walmart plastic wiffle balls also work, and they fit a 3/8 bolt end perfectly.EspressoDude wrote: Do the bolts point out and tear fabric, or in and cause head wounds.
