Totally off topic - very happy event

Post by Sunbeam56 » Fri Apr 25, 2014 5:08 pm

So, I have a small hobby farm. I have been worrying about my cow - misnamed "Peter" - for about three weeks. She has looked like a over-inflated balloon. Today she had TWINS!!!!

Twins are a bit of a rarity in cattle. Happy days!

Healthy? Same size? Names? (or do you even name them?)

Love that new calf smell!!!!

My grandpa's herd had a two-headed calf once , it didnt live very long . A guy come up from richmond wis and bought it.Ah, there's an interesting story behind this In 1967, I remember it was, I got up in the morning and made myself a piece of toast. I set the toaster to three: medium brown. I wore a vest ,cause that was the style at the time.
Now where was I going with this . oh ya I burnt the toast :(

Petra is a good suggestion, but since she answers to Peter, probably a little late to change.
Both boys. Apparently healthy.

Congrats, that's very cool!

I witnessed a cesarean section on a cow pregnant with twins, but the rancher waited to long to bring her into the vet and they didn't make it. The cow was saved, though!

It was surreal to watch the vet to cut the cow open with a box cutter razor blade. Surreal for this suburban kid, for sure! :)

Where are you going to find a she-wolf to suckle them?
