Fantastic thread. I was through pages 1 and 2 when I realized that was so last October. Then I read back from 8 to 7. I am not sure what we can contribute, but I have done my share of playa bike repair - tubes mostly, but the occasional chain repair or replace. There is not much I cannot fix, short of welding, so I will be sure to drop by to offer my assistance if it is needed, and at least to get naked and do bike repair triage. What is the time of place (address) again?

I'll look around the garage and find some donations that I can gift your way. I'll keep in mind the biggest area(s) of need: thorn-resistant tubes, pedals, saddles, rear derailers and the like. It sounds like you're going to have lots of volunteers, so I'll drop by and say "hola" and see if there is anything I can offer up.

I told my oldest boy I wanted to enlarge a camel and a Egyption archway..
The archway is for the facade on camp.. He wipes out this projector. It can enlarge from a post card to 16 feet.. To bad you live in that CA..

Hey UnionHarley - Is there anything we can do to pool resources? I'm just a short trip away from Salem and I even have family in Salem, so I would be willing to help out in any way I can.

I will be pulling a 6'x14' v-nose trailer into BRC. My intention is the arrive on Sunday evening or Monday morning depending on gate traffic. Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist.

Thax . Right now I'm brainstorming to keep the load light.. Utility trailer and VW van.. When push go's to shove I will be calling on you.. I would be into helping you if needed..

For Elliots bike repair.. I will have some parts seats, seat post, cranks, peddles, derailers, complete wheel assembles and a tray of nut, bolts and spring and thing that belong to bicycles.. Elliot dose not need frames or forks.. He replaces old cable with new only.. Fork bearing are good.. I have a couple of good tires to throw in. I check the,"end of the line" GoodWill store..Sometimes I can pick up good brand bike for parts.. As low as $7.50

At this point, I simply cannot entertain any more requests.

Come to think of it, I would appreciate confirmations also. Always good to keep in touch.
Evening Elliot! 16 weeks out and we continue our preparations for this so-called camping in the desert. You can definitely still count Taschia and I IN!!!

Suspect that I'll be booking our flights any day now. We are sure looking forward to meeting you, and hope many others from ePlaya too, when we arrive.

Today I walked into a Staples store in town and Daft Punk "Lose Yourself to Dance" was being played. Having fallen in love with the song after watching the video shot at BM last year I immediately found myself with a pretty substantial smile on my face. That's the happiest pencil and eraser shopping I have ever done. Just typing this puts a silly grin on my face.

Cheers,

Requests for loaners keep coming in! This thread is simply too successful. So... friendly reminder: There are no more loaner bikes available.

I picked up a couple of new 26" tubes on clearance at walmart for you. I saw the shiny new huffy cruisers there for $88. They're so pretty.

You know what Elliot? I think I'm gonna go out and start working on that tandem you gave me right now! I know I have those pedals you sent for it here somewhere… I have NO idea where… Charlie will know. She knows where everything is.

I just passed that tandem along. Some kind burner -- with a shortage of transport capacity -- gifted it. Have fun!

I will be bringing a "security bit" set to the playa.. Disassembled a bike yester day that did not have a SAE or Metric nut or bolt.. It was all security bits and taped thread into the frame..

Did not need to remove the pedals that took a wrench.. Wheels were quick release.. Needed the front wheel, fork, brake, neck, three speed shifter and frame back to the seat.. unjons chop shop.. Will change the bolts out to fit metric wrenches.

I put the tandem together a bit. The rear derailleur is missing (it's had the ol' one-speed playa bike conversion) but I picked up a few parts bikes from the massive pile of bikes left to die on the playa, it's at the other house, I'll go get it. But I rode it today finally! Rear tire is flat and it has one of your repair tags that says "Rear wheel keeps eating tubes" but I'm gonna swap the ultra skinny road wheels & tires for cruiser types, so I won't bother fixing that.

It doesn't look like I'll be doing a Mongoose Beast conversion on it like I wanted to because the frame is an alloy I don't have the capability of welding on.

Does anyone know if the Beast frame is steel? I could stretch it into a tandem I suppose.
