Hello, Hello! Been a while. Dropping in to say Hi and post something I found online. Looks pretty straight forward, Might have to make one when I get home.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

yay VC!!! you've got it all!! good on ya, watch out world!
AntiM: yeah wasps.......I hit my first nest the other day with my backhoe........smart enough this time to get the hell out before I got "marked" with pheromones.
nice set up Mike!! somehow, I'm seeing me sitting on, and crushing it.......super idea though.
Surgeon says he can fix part of my abdominal muscle/wall tear. The small part at my naval, where it tore at the site of my gall bladder surgery. But, the separation from there to my sternum, is probably something I'll just have to live with. He said major surgery, huge scarring and no real guarantee it'd hold anyway.
He asked if I lift heavy stuff, I said "moderately heavy", he said well, keep it at moderate, about 50 lbs.......I did not respond, just said "ok".
no can do.
so, waiting for insurance approval and then procedure.
I told him, it is unacceptable to have me out of commission from Aug. to Sept. so, gotta schedule around that.

Gah, Yggy, that sucks so much. Hopefully he can fix ya with minimal opening. Does it help to wear those stupid belts when lifting?
I am resigned to hernias, and the surgery just makes them worse. I think my latest fix is broke again.

Yggy , maybe think about your body as important
took my youngest son for an mri , two sons wearing boots from broken bones
met the man who writes and heads the cartoons for the "New Yorker" magazine
very funny smart new book "How about never, is never good for you "

Morning all TDIF. Good news, VC. Sounds like a load of hurt, YG. Hope it all goes well.Call if I can be of help. ASD, I love New Yorker cartoons and saw that guy on 60 Minutes a few weeks ago. Funny man indeed. Loved the fold out bar, but looks like it is best used by delicate folks. Have a great weekend

and yeah ASD, I do think of my body as important. I also see it as a tool for living, and one that heals stronger than when it breaks, and thrives on adversity (within reason). So, I push it to the edge all the time.
Keeps me feeling alive, to do some of what I do, and survive. A little blood and burn and busted stuff is just the price. Scars, are great badges.
Once it's broken beyond repair, I'll change gears.
I want to be "worn out, held together with duct tape and wire" when I skid into lifes "home plate".

Hooray and congrats, VC!
And awesome looking design, Mikegyver! I love how space efficient it is. If/when you build it, the trick (I think) is to use spendier wood. The better stuff gets into harder woods and has a much better density and strength.
And dammit, Yggy, keep it under 50lbs for the foreseeable future. Don't strain yourself on an injury you might not be able to heal back from...better to be a guy who can hardly lift 50 pounds than be a guy who can hardly walk. You're tough, but you're also smart. Think about ways to use levers and tools and stuff to make lifting/moving stone a bit easier for day to day stuff, keep the 'superhero' class exertion to a minimum.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Oops, hit the button too soon. I hope the MRI on your son's foot went well and it's nothing too serious, aserendipity.
And sorry to hear about the broken fix, AntiM.
Off we go, into a sunny (and probably hot) Friday. It's been unseasonably warm here, I don't mind it one bit though Pandorra doesn't care for it (to be fair, it gets much hotter down in the south bay where she works). I've got some design work to do and some training courses to work my way through, a storage run to make, and I want to try and dive into a video project I'm working on.
I found a couple tapes from the 2005 burn, and it both excites and annoys me to no end. I shot footage while working on our MV and while on the playa that year, and there are a few really good shots in there... but I didn't get any footage whatsoever of the full completed ship on the playa. I think part of it was the effects of sleep deprivation (4+ weeks of 18-20 hour work days), and part of it was that once we got to BRC we were surrounded by serious photographers and videographers who were offering to shoot stuff (and of course who we never heard from afterwards). I think another part of it is that when you're busy doing stuff and being in the moment, it's difficult to step out of that to go grab a camera. It was also before most point and shoot cameras could do video, and using a mechanical video camera on the playa was a pretty risky move under all but the most pristine playa conditions. Anyhow... we'll see what I can get out of this footage.

Okay Yggy, I completely appreciate you as is...
I promise not to say another maternal word
the mri trip set me back to feeling the results of us preferring to live maximum..soccer injury maybe for yesterdays son
my oldest son is the one who in the dark rainy night skateboarded down from Coit Tower
thank you Trilo..first time you haven't had to bark at my clumsy IT and I do appreciate you as you are.
and a life of dance has me cartilegeless but I still dance, just different

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Aww, Yggy, sorry to hear it.
I know you won't allow yourself to adhere to someone else's standard, but I will say just once that I hope you keep it to 50 lbs until you've healed. I worry about you making it worse before they can try to fix you, especially 'cause you probably won't have it done before the Burn, I guess.
But I know it's a personal matter, so I will only wish it once.

ha! thanks gang!
yeah well not sure if I'm lucky or what, but, they want me in right away and have scheduled surgery for next Wed.
At least, at that, I should be all healed up before the burn.
Simon: I usually make them dig their own ditches, just sayin.........but, I do sprinkle the lime (on the coconut).
Thanks Savannah: yeah, I struggle when someone or something tries to "hobble" me.......sort of like fighting the reins (reigns) I guess. I'm a bit of a rebel, at times........I don't do well with "orders".......but will try.
eta: just found out my tenant next door is moving in two weeks......jeebus! now gotta find a new neighbor. well hopefully there's no lifting involved in the application process, or negotiations, thereof.

Ahh, but we DID notice that photo of one of Yg's sandals under a heavy slab of stone. Take care of yourself, Yggy and do consider the doc's advice. When I was looking at the pictures of you and the hof chimney I kept thinking "doesn't this guy have a couple of cranes? why is he lifting this up a rickety ladder by hand?". You're already so sexy, I don't know that you need more scars to add to the mystique.
And now, more drinks!
