Hi all!

So it's been a year since I turned in my thesis and I see that this thread is still somewhat active. I just wanted to let you all know that after attending Burning Man last year I have come to the conclusion that ALL YOU MOTHER FUCKERS WERE RIGHT!! God damn it. I wish I could re-write my whole paper, I wouldn't even pick this topic again, because it doesn't relate to the experience that I had at all. I guess it goes to show that you really can't explain or understand Burning Man without experiencing it for yourself. But oh well, it was undergrad and I needed to turn in a thesis on SOMETHING in order to graduate. And I'm glad a spent a year researching Burning Man because now I'm super prepared and excited to attend for years to come.

This year my camp has applied for theme camp placement. Wish us luck! ..or don't

Well, I wanted to write about something I was interested in and I knew I would be going to Burning Man that summer and I'd have to do research just to attend, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. My rationale behind the whole "how could you write about something you haven't experienced thing" was pretty much that that was what all of my classmates were doing. One girl was writing about Australian Aboriginal Dreamtime-- she's for sure never experienced that, idk if she's ever even been to Australia. Another wrote about the sherpas who guide people up Mt. Everest--she was interested and passionate about climbing but she hadn't been to Nepal when she wrote her paper.

Anthropology is a subject that doesn't do well when your research is made to be condensed into a small amount of time. Anyone who knows the controversies surrounding Margaret Mead's initial research (Coming of Age in Samoa) understands that you can't form conclusions about an event or a group of people without spending a CONSIDERABLE amount of time with them. And I'm talking like years and years (+ return visits to keep your data current). So when you ask an undergrad student to write a paper about something and tell them it has to be done in 4 months....you're sort of asking for work that doesn't have very much field data to back it up. For my class it was really just about teaching us to write and research well.

But maybe that was just the experience at my school. Regardless, it's done and even though I have a million other ideas about what I could've written about now, I'm glad I stuck to my Burning Man topic in general. It got me involved in the community and pushed me to go to the event. Now I'm the coordinator of our camp. I filled out our entire camp placement by myself (after surveying my campmates's opinions of course), I raised almost $2000 to buy us a geodesic dome, I'm making us a dome cover and we're planning on having a really awesome theme camp this year (whether we get placed or not) with all of my friends. Basically planning for Burning Man has become a huge joy and provides me with a great sense of pride and accomplishment. It also keeps me sane all week because I have a very boring desk job with a lot of down time lol.

Haha, I'm not in school anymore so no funding from any organizations based around research. But I know that the Black Rock Arts Foundation gives out grants. Maybe you can get them interested in your sparklepony research

I have a boring desk job because it allows me to pay the bills and afford to live in the SF Bay Area that I love so much. It's not so bad really because I have spare time for things like this! Plus my benefits are insane.

I went to a small private school in Oregon that cost way too much money but provided me with a lot of fond memories, fantastic friends and a great education.

Fail Better, as Beckett would say. God I wish I could get as excited about others as much as they get about themselves. I just appreciate how all the college grads get the good jobs and say over underlings due to the years spent writing about stuff they know nothing about, allowing them to continue that past-time into a career. I personally realize that religion is an evolutionary attempt to act as a scientists. So why not do it right and be a scientist period.

I am a unitivitist, one that units every event into one order of facts by experience only. This includes all past known by experience.

The dymaxion state of this is Unitivity. Unitivity is an on going integration of all experience into one till now in time. The act of

integration of all experience is the unitific method. This in includes all religions known as well as people, planet stars, etc. the known

integration of all gerneralized principles of the universe in one. Gravity and radiation exchanging omni events with origin of radii from your head.

All relativity, functions, for all is at minimum two or awareness does not exist, as well all can be explained by angle and frequency including all 92

elements and super made elements interacting together and the memes of our specie. Burning man is just the modern attempt to make a better and happier world

to replace war and less integrated states of our specie. Burning man in most the world is actually burning men. god is also a word for unitivity but less scientific.

We live on a space ship earth and burning man is the most modern design on earth for humanity to thrive as a city. Thrive baby thrive.

spirituality and religion are man made ideas, so why not make better ideas if we make them in the first place. Science is the best idea into unitivity.
