Orange County, CA to BRC Gear Transport... Help... HELP!!!!
I'm looking for someone to transport my gear to Burning Man. Any resources or transports available? I have no issues paying, please PM to discuss details. My current camp mates bailed and I just need to get my gear to BRC

First - breathe deeply. You have five months to figure this out, and lots of people attend from Southern California, so it shouldn't be too hard.
You can add your listing to the official ride share board, which will put you in touch with people offering rides, you can also connect with the regional group for Southern California and get to know people that way. Just keep getting prepared, plan to keep your stuff compact as possible until you have your ride sorted out (so you're easy to accommodate), and we'll see you in the dust.

Absolutely breathing deep and hard! woo hoo! It's okay to post in rideshares? I' don't personally need a ride... Just my gear needs a ride!

Yes, you can post in rideshares even if your gear just needs a ride, I believe there's even a specific category for that on the board.

Hi!
OC Burner here. Pretty tight on space but I will keep an ear open. Just hang around and be patient. (Radical patience! Ahh!)
Don't worry too much. Lots of ppl from OC heading to the dust. Your gear will get there. Or not. Either way is OK.
Remember: The only gear you need is you. [Well, okay; bring some water, a mask, goggles, shoes, etc.]
See you on the Playa!

I suggest getting in contact with regional folks. I know LA has a mailing list, and San Diego, too. That way you can meet a bunch of local burners and maybe get involved in a project or - who knows? - make some friends. Then you're not trusting your stuff to a stranger.
Also, having a vehicle pass is a fantastic bargaining chip - you could really help somebody out perhaps even more than they help you out.

Renting or going halfsies on a cargo van or cube truck might be a solid option as well. Some companies won't rent to burners, but I know a few that will. When we returned our 20' box truck last year they actually said it was the cleanest rental they'd had returned all summer. They were blown away that we'd taken it out to TTITD.

Retrofrolic's box truck came from a place in Ventura that had no issues with it going to the burn. I know Ventura is on the wrong side of LA, but burner friendly places do exist!

I'm giving this a nudge over to the Share Resources board, as it's a better fit for ride/RV/gear haulage shares. You may also want to consider reaching out to area and neighboring regional groups (San Diego, OC, LA, etc), or other camps that may be traveling through your area on the way in/out. You could also look at renting your own vehicle, and then offering a gear haul share for any unused space.

Hey Guk - we are currently looking at renting an RV and driving up from San Diego so depending on how much gear you have we might be able to assist. Send me a message if you're still looking, happy to help if we can. Peace!
