Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Excellent stuff - I love both the sticker design and those dog tags!
That reminds me, I need to get off my butt and get working on my camp's sticker design.
@Joeln, seriously, don't worry about it. Just worry about getting all the other pieces together and get out there in once piece - you're the gift.

As Trilo said, you are the gift. Well prepared virgins are an absolute treasure.
I shanghaied a virgin burner last year who came by my camp because she couldn't find the event she was looking for. I had no idea where this camp was, and told her to give up, she was coming with me now. Poured her a drink, brought her to BDC, got her on the whorehouse for a lovely night art tour. Never saw her again. One of my favorite moments.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Such awesome sawg this year. I hope everyone brings some to the M&G.
Joel, as everyone has said, a well prepared virgin is one of the best gifts out there. Just bring yourself, have fun, and accept gifts graciously. Next year you'll have a much better idea of what you can do or bring. Remember, a gift can also be helping someone pound rebar or set up their tent in a whiteout.
Last year, I was out in the deep playa and ran across this guy who looked like he had been out all night and was trying to drag his dehydrated ass back to camp. I gave him a bottle of water which he drank immediately. (I always carry a couple extra bottles of water with me) He started digging in his backpack for something to gift me back and I said no worries, just helping him with some water made me feel good. He pulled out 3 brownish red rocks out of his pack and gave them to me. He apologized that rocks were all he had for a gift. He told me they were from the Moab desert and my eyes lit up. I'm somewhat of a rock hound and collect rocks and sand from everywhere I can. I was very happy to add these unique rocks to my collection.
I guess my point here is that "anything" can be an awesome gift, even a rock.

Bought some spray glue today.. I wanted to paint the silver side of some foam insulation board.. My son come up with the idea of a light coat of spray glue as some thing the paint could hold on to.. Tried it out , works great..

Here's the fleece I'm going to use for my new Playa coat. It'll be loose for layering and have plenty of pockets! I wish I'd gotten more of it last year. They don't have it anymore and I'd like to make a longer coat than I have fabric for. Oh well, lesson learned. When you see it...buy it!

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Well, damn it... you guys are all so creative. I've got major work to do.
To that end, I did order glass vials for Baker Beach sand pendants...
And I now OFFICIALLY have off from work the last week of August!
Took some creativity and I'm certainly putting in extra hours to make up for it, including going to a large, tacky, overly-commercial, borderline evil mouse-themed park in Florida with 200 teenagers next weekend.
"Worth it" is a total understatement.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
I finally got some sewing done. Reworked a nifty gauze shirt which was a size small into something I can wear. I just need a cool big button for the shoulder scarf.
Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
I tore a green fur bag apart last night so now I have pieces to accent a black fur vest. I've done so much but still feel like there is so much left! Ahhhh! Virgin freak out! lol (and I know, I just need to show up. but I LOVE dressing up and am super stoked I can play dress up the whole time I'm out there.)

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
I absolutely love this thread, it's so inspiring and always helps me feel less crazy as I plan and prepare like a maniac! Today I got two super heavy metal "exit" signs from the ski resort I work at (they were going to be thrown out) and I'm going to make some kind of camp sign to hang from them. I was just having a conversation with one of my campmates from last year about how our camp was so hard to find at night so we are going to light that baby UP. I'm thinking of having a get together at my house a month or so before the burn with everyone local that is camping together and paint or design our sign together as we get amped up for the burn! A little more than three months...YAY!! So much to do!!

Got the old chicken wire and banged together some light weight foldable frames from used pallets. This will form the backbone for an accordion style "gallery" wall. This with the extra monkey hut should make for a not so fine art gallery. Now to keep motivated while waiting for the STEP program to come through.

Not at all. I would be delighted with wayward galleries all over the city.
Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
I sent a WTF message to Ticket Support today. It is well over 6 weeks since I sent in my low income ticket application and I have not received a letter (e-mail) as yet. I realize it takes time to go through 4,000 applications, but still... I'm showing my impatience again, aren't I ?
On another note, I shaved off my beard and got a buzzcut today, on my 63rd birthday, in preparation for a hot, dry year. I treated myself to 2 maple bars and 3 doughnut holes in celebration.

Hopefully it was more of a polite inquiry than a WTF message (you wouldn't believe some of the stuff they get), I hope it works out for you. Happy belated birthday and seasonal buzzcut!
I got my sticker order in. I had dialed up the art revision a couple days ago, so putting the order in was a breeze. I also got the chance to chat about logistics with some of our overseas campmates, it's all slowly coming together.

Today I wrote the last check to the surgeon that operated on me 3 years ago. Now that money can go into the gas fund. Hooray! Maybe by the 2017 burn I will have the hospital paid off...

Think I'll buy some of the solar light rope, score! I like swag, stickers & patches, especially the dog tags, awesome work...alas I shall simply be a well prepared virgin who hopefully also hears back from ticket support, keep having nightmares that it was just a wicked accident that I was awarded a low income ticket...can they reverse the decision>? virginal first world problems...sigh...someone adopt me if only to put me out of my misery! what would it take to get adopted by Trilo or AntiM?
