1st Time Burner - Austin, TX

Post by LittleBear31 » Sun May 18, 2014 4:36 pm

Hello!

Nice to "meet" ya! This will be my first time going to Burning Man. I'm looking for a ride from Austin, TX to the playa and back as well as a camp to camp with.

A little about me:
I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Practitioner and Yoga Instructor, Deeksha Giver. <----- That is what I will be gifting at Burning Man. I also enjoy hula hooping and watching fire spinners, someday hope to fire spin myself. I tend to migrate towards creative artsy people as well as other healers. I'm outgoing yet down to earth, playful, very friendly and respectful of others.

Feel free to ask me any questions you would like. I'm an open book.

Looking forward to Burning Man and meeting everyone. Please contact me if you can help me with a ride, know of someone or want to suggest a camp for me to connect with.

LittleBear, getting a ride and a camp are a little like getting a job . . . unless you're a very rare specialist, you will find yourself having to chase one down (theme camps don't routinely check the Introduce Yourself forum--that's just for people like me to say hello).

You'll want to email a few camps that sound like a good fit and tell them what you told us and why you're cut out for them. Emphasize what you have to offer (LMP is especially cool). Maybe the HeeBeeGeeBee Healers would be a fit.

See the "2014 Theme Camps" forum on this site and look for "How to Join a Theme Camp" and some camps that are recruiting.

Contact Austin Burners. This is your best chance to rideshare. There might be plenty of people who'd like to cut expenses in half. If they're a virgin too, make sure they know that two people will generally need an SUV or larger; water for 2 takes up a lot of space. You can manage it in a sedan-sized vehicle, but only barely (or if someone else is providing your shade).

If worse comes to worse fly into Reno and take the "Burner Express" bus into the event. Google it for a reservation. . .

Welcome. :)

Welcome, LittleBear. Howdy!

As usual, Savannah is correct, with plenty of good information.

Definitely read the Survival Guide!
Even if you plan to camp at someone else's camp, it's always wise to prepare as if no one else was going to show up.
