Truth Seeker, Complusive Learner, Nurturer of Love

Post by heartstrungsong » Thu May 29, 2014 11:48 am

Raised by wolves, (read: benign neglect) I learned about the world through books and misadventures. This strategy continues to work for me.

Overcoming a chronic case of over-responsibility, I have thrown out reasons to not attend including but not limited to ignorance, finances, previous commitments, and paralyzing fear about doing it right. In the last year I have lost just about every security I had created for myself (jobs, relationships, family, savings). This was terrifying, but I feel more free than I can ever remember. I have no idea what I am doing with my life, though I'm pretty sure it involves play.

I'm prone to staying up late talking at levels of depth and intimacy that only other seekers gravitate towards. I believe that the truth is love, and it is a fascinating exercise in finding the right words to ring that bell inside.

I was recently told my eyes are alien in color, and I have a connection to the planet Sedna (if you can help me receive such a message, I'd appreciate it). I was also (in an unrelated event) told that I have good Shen - it took me a minute to realize that this was not a compliment to my strong and cleft jawline. My sign is Taurus on the Gemini Cusp and I am a manifesting-generator with a... I don't remember, but I'm intense, heart-felt, sensitive, and very good at intellectualizing situations.

On a more concrete note, I'm qualified as a child-development specialist and CrossFit Kids instructor, unqualified as a singer/songwriter, and attending a grad program for Spiritual Psychology.

I'm interested in you, your community, your camp, and how we can mutually learn and feel more alive.

I like it. For me, openness and yes = acceptance, but it is an articulate way of addressing a very feeling-oriented concept.

Welcome, Heartstrungsong!

Camps are not mandatory; you'll have neighbors no matter what you do. If you want a camp though, read the Survival Guide a few times if you haven't (most people will be able to tell if you have, based on the questions you ask) then search the 2014 Theme Camps threads for camps that are recruiting:

viewforum.php?f=364

Or email last year's camps and see if they're going and still accepting new people:
http://www.burningman.com/themecamps/th ... ml?yy=2013

Join your regional groups, DEFINITELY. It's the best chance for a local rideshare:
http://regionals.burningman.com/

There's tons of info here on ePlaya, and I tend to search for it using google keyword + eplaya. If you try looking for something at length and can't find it, people will probably direct you if it looks like you've tried. People who bust ass make good neighbors. :)

Thank you Savannah, I fully intend to delve deeply in when school is out, I appreciate the direct links to resources!

Dr Helix, I'm literally at a loss - the only teams I've ever supported have been compiled of friends and dispersed the day they debuted. Though I was invited to a Dodger's game a couple months ago and really enjoyed my hot dog. Flag football and dance-offs are more my speed.

Perhaps I should also add to my list of self-descriptive adjectives earnest and gullible. Le sigh.

Good time to come to Burning Man, not that it will give you all the answers but yeah, good timing.

Not to worry, wasn't a prerequisite. I'm a Giants man myself. Also a Buddhist Welder, meaning I'm a welder by trade and I like the Buddha.

I advise you to ignore him. It's something of an insider thing, and he's probably crossing a line.

Gah, can't ignore him now, crossed lines are my favorite. Well, second favorite. If someone can translate with ridiculously transparent and direct language what exactly the fun-poking here is, that would be even better.

I knew it was me you were working. I caught hell the other day from the mods for being a bit snarky on page 1 and I thought I had toned it down. Everybody's a critic I guess, even socks.

Eplaya can be a spikey furry thing, it's the only ball we have, maybe not the best ball to learn the game with. As my father used to say: "watch your fingees." Welcome aboard.

The talking a lot thing kinda scares me. Sometimes at Burningman I want to hold up a sign that says "really, I just want to sit here alone for a while." I like the sound of companionable silence.

But welcome.

Ahh, yes, well, I should clarify that - communication doesn't really require talking. But it can be quite fun, when it is additive.

Well, the skills of self-preservation and reliance transfer well from one part of life to another - no time like the present to practice. :P

I, like you, spend most of my days and nights in this place of Angels. Come prepared, for as much as you bring, you will leave with more. Loneliness, despair, laughter, awe and childlike joy can be yours. Here's the thing--it becomes part of you in a way.
The truth is more important than the facts.
