While digging out the old electric store cart.. Found the tennis ball I have been searching for.. We will have tennis balls for kickstand tips. Must be close to 50 in the bag..

Funny how things appear when you stop looking..

This usually means that one of the spokes is poking thru a spoke-nipple, and/or the rim strip (rim tape) is not covering a spoke-nipple/spoke-tip. So... remove rim strip, correct anything sharp poking out, cover with good rim strip. Common adhesive tape of some sort can be made to work in a pinch.

Oh yeah, I could fix it, I'm just not gonna bother because the existing wheels are so skinny that two of these things could pass each other on a piece of rope strung between two buildings.

Elliot as you know I'm a gearhead. I turn wrenches and Ive got three roll-away cabinets full of mechanic tools.
So - I was a bit surprised to realize I couldn't even disassemble and reassemble the tandem bike! I had to go buy a chain link tool and a crank puller. I put a derailleur back on it, and I'm modifying a set of cruiser fenders to fit it. I swapped the super-skinny road tires for 26x2.125 whitewalls. I might even modify a beach-cruiser's chain guard for it. I'm trying to make it as "cruiser" as possible, not so much modern road bike looking. I can't do much about the straight frame tubing (as opposed to old-Schwinn-esque curvy frame tubes) but with all the right accessories maybe I can get close.

Capt. You payed me the biggest compliment last year. I rode up to your boat while you were waiting for the DMV to permit you. We greeted, chatted and you were staring at my bike. You said I have the perfect playa bike. Thank you. It's just a big ol cruiser with a basket, lights and a fat comfy seat. Good luck with yours.

Unjon, I will miss the Corvallis KSR this year. But the race will still happen, without the DaVinci Days fair. Race Central / Start/Finish will be at the Fairgrounds.

Elliot - I have a Trek 800 frame and crank, do you want it? I've raped most of the other parts off of it, but it would be a super bike to build for a loaner. let me know and I'll haul it down to camp.

I will also be doing bike stuff, I am considering toting along a mini tool kit in
My wandering of La Playa. What would you say are the most common
fix it on the spot mechanicals? Flats, brakes and crank arms?

A lot of WD40 for the cranks..seat adjustment.. general tightening..

Just a few on the spot repairs. derailer need cleaning also, again WD40

When Elliot is working PGE shifts, I've put on lots of chains that have come off and adjusted the tension.
