Fuck, TK. From the paleolithic times when I was still a bankruptcy lawyer - Saw this sad stuff so many times. DON'T co-sign for anyone. Not your parents, not your kids, not your bestest friends. There's a reason they can't get credit on their own and that reason will rear up and bite YOU in the butt. Hard to say no, but saves a lot of bigger heartache later.

Fuck indeed. Refusing a co-signing is always difficult when it's a family member, but the negative consequences of doing so can really causes massive disruptions. Maybe there can be some sort of deferment arrangement for some time, but these are pretty bad times for being saddled with that loan.
