Burner Friendly VAN Rental in Seattle/Eugene area

Post by N'JoY » Wed Jun 04, 2014 10:14 am

Hey all!

We are camp 'AbsoFuckinLution' and are made up from 2 larger groups. We have a lot of people coming from Seattle/Eugene and a large group coming from Europe :).

In order to get everybody to the burn we are looking to rent a van for aprox 8 - 12 people with a trailer hookup for all the personal gear.

We have been unlucky with finding a rental company that will allow us to take it to the burn..

Maybe one of you guys can help?!

Check Del's truck rental in Woodinville, just east of Seattle. Every year I see some of their trucks on the playa. They're a smaller, non-huge-nationwide place.

Hey Captain goddammit

I tried them even before I saw your message.

At first they said they would rent it out but with a fee.
When I didn't hear back from them afterwards I called them today and now suddenly they don't rent it anymore they say..

If anyone has another idea.. We're getting a little bit hopeless..

Beware of those 10 and 12 passenger vans.. One small turn of the steering wheel at HWY speeds and you flip.. They are a death trap if the driver don't have both hands on the wheel and both eyes on the road at all time..

Warning.."Kill the rabbit"

Pay attention everyone. Rental companies want business. They would never turn down a chance to do business and make money. Fewer and fewer will rent to burners because they get their trucks back all messed up.
If you rent a truck, keep the cab closed up tight, and plan ahead on THOROGHLY cleaning the thing back up.
If you trash their stuff, they don't make money on you, and guess what... you can buy your own god damn truck because they aren't gonna rent theirs to us.
Another thing - if your clean-up plan is just figuring on paying the cleaning fee, you're the worst offender of all. That cleaning fee doesn't cover un-playafying. It's intended for NORMAL levels of dirt.

If I were a rental company, I would be scanning public boards for any mention of my business and BM. I could change my policy at the last minute and I would not rent a van for towing. So ask burners around privately in whatever town.

It's cynical, but I'd do that too if I operated a van rental company that didn't cater specifically to burners.

How many people you have going? Buy a good used van. You've got plenty of time to ensure its road-worthiness...if you get on the stick.

BTW, El Monte RV in Federal Way may have something for you. They've got a rep for being Burner-friendly.

That's not a bad idea. People drop thousands into truck or RV rental for BM.
Vans are particularly cheap used. Note: do not buy a minivan to haul stuff with!
I live in air-conditioned all-comforts-of-home luxury on the playa for less investment than one rental.
