Actually Bill King did a stint with the A's but was best known for doing the Oakland Raiders games for years ("Holy Toledo!") and the Warriors in the '70s. I had the chance to meet him twice in 1976, once in New York at a Jets-Raiders game and then again in Seattle for a Warriors-Sonics game. He mentioned my name (they were simulcasted back then so the radio and TV play-by-play were the same) and my uncle in Yuba City almost feel out of his chair when he said, "I just saw my old friend Jim Jacoby who I haven't seen since the Raiders played the Jets…" Terrific guy.

It's too early to tell if it'll be hot here today yet - but it's bright and sunny, which is nice. My weekend was a mixed bag. Got caught up on some things and pulled all the stuff I needed to pull together for a camp meeting and a little pizza making, but then was feeling bleh all day Sunday. I took things easy, had a little black cat that occasionally would curl up on my chest and a wonderful girlfriend checking on me to make sure I wasn't dead.

I KNEW there was another reason that, though we don't always see eye to eye, You ARE a GOOD person. Cats that curl up on people KNOW the good in people. My little cat, Kate (a.k.a. 'Katy-cat, or 'Kitty-kate' or "KATHRYN" when she does a bad thing (not often at all)) does the same thing. She either curls up on my chest or she falls asleep on one hip if I'm on my side reading on the couch. I am only allowed in her presence to read small paperbacks, larger books will not let her see me and she invariably noses her way under a book or lifts a paw and pushes the book down with a paw and looks at me like, "Bad Rhino! You should be paying attention to me!"

Trilo, my Kate taught me the most important word in cat-speak. It's "MEOW". Cats use it and expect us to understand that it's a contraction. Just as we would say 'aren't' for 'are not' or 'won't' for 'will not', "MEOW" means "ME - NOW!" when they want any kind of attention. And they're always right.

Here's to hoping you feel better today.

Our BM2013 Swag arrived ... it's a light from the Runway project. They hooked it up with a color changing light with a remote for different programs. It's pretty cool.

Thanks to the people at FROGMA for making it happen!

Wife and I also went to a bike repair workshop with some local burnerers. Really, it was an excuse to get together and get/be excited about BM2014. I did get some help repairing a flat that happened in Sparks last year during the BBQ cook off - at least I suspect that is when it happened since it was obviously punctured with a pocket knife while sitting on the back of the car in the parking structure over night at the hotel.

But damn, it had been so long since I repaired a flat, I was really at a loss. Almost gave up to focus on drinking when the host pretty much insisted I get the rim and tire back outta my car. I mean I was able to refocus on drinking once he took over anyway, but I sure do hate needing to ask for help, lol.

Yay for Frogma! I called to see that they had my address... and apparently, my light has been shipped, to arrive shortly. Can't wait to see it! (I love cobalt blue glass...) :D

^ they're pretty cool

almost want to find a clear glass sconce so the colors come through better ... it still looks cool, though.

it needs some final touches of finish to make it a super epic home installation, so it's only pretty damn epic right now :)

Nice! I did wonder how it would look with coloured light through the blue, and decided that, if I don't like it, I can always replace the light with white, and use the other for something Playa-ish elsewhere. Is it heavy? I imagine it's bigger than I remember, after seeing them on Playa, with all that huge, dusty space around them.

It's surprisingly compact ... and the bulb they put in has all kinds of potential for play fun!!

That's a direction we are probably headed, too.

Happy Birthday Lucky420!
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Happy birthday, Lucky420!

Many happy returns.

May each day be wonderful no matter where you turn,
As you wait patiently for 'the big burn'
May your happiness and wealth grow a hundred fold,
For as long as you're one of us, you will never grow old.

Burningman changes each one of us in turn,
So much to see....so much to learn.
When we get there for the big celebration,
We're reminded to proceed with no expectations.

And then we're rewarded with time with our friends,
After just eight days the celebration ends,
And then we proceed back to the default on the fly,
Those things that we've learned, we learn to apply.

So the reward is twofold, just like your birthday.
Wisdom and love are wished your way,
No matter where you are
Today is YOUR day.

Now go seize the day.

Good Morning Everyone! :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Happy Birthday, Lucky!! Party on.. :D

I am running on fumes lately. :coffee:  I have friends that have an estate sale business, and occasionally they need extra hands to prepare the houses for the sales. I am part of a small crew that goes in and helps pull, sort, clean and display everything out of cabinets, closets, garages, sheds, etc. It can be gross, sad, scary, hilarious, and fascinating. It's a catch 22 though, the extra cash is always great, but I usually find something that I "must have" and end up spending half or more of what I earn...

Happy birthday, Lucky!

And hooray for Frogma. If you catch 'em on the playa, they do a great hoppy hour (serving frogaritas, of course) in the later afternoon to early evening.

Yesterday wound up feeling decidedly warmer than I would have liked, but it's hard to say if that was the weather's fault, or the fault of my being under the weather. I'm feeling better today, though, so woohoo for that.

Oh yeah - anyone else planning on making it to SF pre-compression this weekend? We've got an early evening thing to go to first, but then plan on heading over later. I love that it's being held at NIMBY, not only to give them some support, but also because I think it's far better to deck out a giant industrial art warehouse space for a party than it is to cram what little art and decor you can into a nightclub. It'll be great to see familiar art pieces and mutant vehicles as well as work-in-progress on some of the biggest and boldest stuff coming to the playa.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I share my birthday with my son so it's always been a little extra fun for us.

Yggy, paddling? Okay but I might need Kraken first.

Rhino, that poem was lovely, thank you.

Thanks again everyone and hope you all enjoy your day too!

You're welcome.

I know about the 'simultaneous birthdays'.....THREE employees at this location have the same birthday..me, one of our drillers, and one of our lab techs. The boss brings in boxes of donuts to celebrate it, and I'm flattered in any case....because the do-nut is the semi-official pastry of the do-ocracy. Especially with bacon-maple frosting.....lol
