Site Map?
Hello everyone.
First of all- a big congratulations on the forum. I know it's a handful to maintain and you're doing a great job.
This being said,
I am a new user and I find the subforums and sub-subforums terribly confusing.
Is there such a thing as a sitemap or a setting to get a more branch-like overview of the site?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Site Map?
Welcome HT!
There is a LOT of information here and I get confused too.
I'm not sure how others do it, but I prefer to look at a list sorted by recent to oldest
with the View New Posts button towards the top of the page.

Re: Site Map?
Of course you can start with the Board Index and follow the leads from there, but if there is a particular "thing" you are interested in, use the search box. With so many threads and wacky ideas branching out in every direction, there really isn't an overview beyond the Board Index that I know of.

Re: Site Map?
We break it down into forums & threads, under general topics, and try to keep it as clear as possible to find the right forum on the main page. Basically it's this:Homeless Turtle wrote:I am a new user and I find the subforums and sub-subforums terribly confusing.
GENERAL TOPIC (ie: "Preparation")
...Forum (ie: "Shelter & Camping")
......Individual Threads (ie: "Yet another shade structure question", "Teepee Tent Construction Journal")
If you had a question you would ask it as either a new individual thread under a forum, or look for your answers in those threads. For searching, you can use the site search engine in the upper right corner (which works pretty well), or Google a topic by using the formula: site:eplaya.burningman.org tents (obviously, swap out "tents" with your search term)
If you read the Overview on Posting it will give a slightly more in-depth view on how we're laid out. If it still is confusing, please feel free to PM me (or any other Mod) with questions.

Re: Site Map?
The forum listing is kind of a site map in and of itself.

True. Don't. Although, I was going for example rather than comprehensive list. Phoning it in, you know.Eric wrote:And Sham, AntiM and mdmf007. Don't forget them!theCryptofishist wrote:Mods names are in green and underneath it it says "moderator", or go by name...Eric wrote:... (or any other Mod)...

Re: Site Map?
Thanks for the kind words.
The index page IS the site map, you just need to spend a couple minutes looking at the list of categories and forums.
The index page IS the site map, you just need to spend a couple minutes looking at the list of categories and forums.
- Greeter's Station - the place to post a personal introduction, look at announcements, or check out the overview of the ePlaya. Sort of like the place you might start.
- 2014 Event Tickets - the category where all things related to ticketing would live.
- Preparation - where all the general preparation-related questions and discussions would go. There are a number of sub-categories for the most popular types of discussions (shelter, food & drink, etc).
- 2014 Burning Man Event - the category where you'll find announcements and discussions particular to this year's event. Theme camps, art projects, and mutant vehicles often announce their plans and update people on their progress there.
- Show Your Support - the spot where we allow people to post fundraiser programs (as per our posted guidelines of course).
- All About Burning Man - It's where people talk about politics and philosophy, getting involved, or their experiences at Burning Man (sharing pics, posting vids, telling stories).
- Year-Round Connections is more open ended. We allow the posting of regionals and events (as per our posted guidelines of course), and there's an 'open discussion' category which acts as a sort of catch-all for things that don't quite fit anywhere else.
- Years Past is, as the name might suggest, an archive of info from previous years' burns.
- ePlaya Feedback, also as the name implies, is where feedback and discussions related to the operation of the message board (ePlaya) would live.

Re: Site Map?
Hey! You used the word "fora" 4 times (at least), correctly! This warms my cold, cold fishy heart. So it wasn't a total waste.Jovankat wrote:Does this help?
In hindsight that was probably not the best use of my time this evening...
