Midnight poutine Fundraiser

Hi! We are Midnight Poutine, a camp at Burning Man hailing mostly from Montreal, Québec. What we do is in our name---we serve poutine to hungry burners each night starting at midnight. What's poutine, you ask? A Québecois tradition! Greasy goodness! To be precise, poutine is french fries, covered in cheese curds, with hot gravy poured on top, turning the whole thing into a gooey mess. Sound gross? It's not! In fact, it's the greatest thing you've ever eaten while out on the playa.

In 2013, we estimate that we served 2000 poutines, a great success ! This year, we want to continue that way and we also want to make the experience of visiting us a more pleasing one . The costs for all this are prohibitive if we tried to fund them through camp dues only. That's why we need your help.

I dunno, I see your point Trilo but is there any harm in asking? Who are we to begrudge to members of ePlaya the chance to buy some vinyl stickers in support of gravy soaked cheese curds. Who are we indeed.

Though that question equally applies to your question.

If we're skeptical it's because we've seen many different project proposals come through here. There are a lot of great ideas and neat things people try to achieve -- and a lot of personal camp-funding masquerading as community playa-project proposals. We're also in this brave new world of crowd-funding, where people think others are willing to pony up a couple dollars here and there for some worthless swag they're not even required to deliver.

There are all different reasons why the OP's proposal may draw skepticism. There are also reasons why it may not be a project worthy of funding to have back on playa again. And maybe it's a great project that should be funded. Regardless, the OP has seen fit not to return to this thread, so we'll never really know.

I can't believe there was a poutine camp on the playa and I didn't know about it!

Hi there,

Midnight Poutine has been serving the community for years.

The camp doesn't provide it's campers with any food, alcohol, etc. In fact, each camper is already providing a few hundred bucks to cover the cost of the public gifting and infrastructure.

The project can go on gifting a few hundreds poutines without public support but it needs the community to bring it to a couple thousands meals. It's a personal choice that every burner makes to support us or not, we'll still be there working at the project all night, every night of the week.

Hey Marie-Michelle. I think we have a few friends in common.

Every year I give to at least one fundraiser... especially since I don't do anything LARGE myself. This year Midnight Poutine will definitely be one of them - I know how much that damned curd cheese costs!!! Just wish I could be there to see the faces of those who've never tasted it. It strikes me as the Perfect midnight treat out there.

where is midnight poutine planning on camping this year? and did you apply for placement? I'll be in line for sure

Placement for all (most) Theme Camps is not known yet. This information should come out in early July.
