*peeking in, looking around* It's been a while since I've been in here! Just wanted to say hello and can hardly wait to see you all again!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Hi maryanimal, nice to see you around.
I'm sorry to have missed both my campmate's housewarming and pre-compression, but I felt lousy most of the weekend. Even after taking meds I was in weak shape, plus I didn't want to be that sick guy who showed up anyway and got a bunch of other people sick.
I find it hard to believe when people call themselves 'chill' as well, or any other adjective, for that matter. It feels like a sales pitch, or some kind of bogus hype. No need to sell me, if the person is what they say, it should be pretty self-evident.

ah.....spent the weekend at the Hof, getting all the things opened and ready.
Now have a small camper size propane fridge there!
In looking around, I see I need do a "general cleanup" of just crap that's laying around. Hoping to get that done in the next couple of weeks.
and of course, some ass hat turned on the faucet from my spring water holding tank, and left it to drain said tank. Luckily, it's still running a little, so, will fill again. Dang people.
Can't wait for the Hof party, in two weeks....I found Google maps gives a very good map if you query: Meadow lake road and Bowman Lake road, Nevada County, CA, 95959. good detail and description. that gets ya withing 100' of my driveway, where hopefully the signs will not be stolen.......as in the past.
don't forget all are welcome!

Try a finer grind of coffee. I did. It worked. I've been running on 4-5 hours of sleep/night for the last two months. The grind of the job has accelerated, but I'm still loving what I do. Everything I'm addressing right now is landslide or rockfall related, so it's right up my alley.

Ugh... I imagine it is sort of like the fun of going only 2' with the weed-eater before having to rewind the line. Slow, frustrating progress...not wanting to throw a fit where everyone can see...finally saying EFF this ESS and hurling said weed-eater across the yard.theCryptofishist wrote:Oh, the slow-motion thrill ride of stopping every block or so to let the battery light to go from red to yellow. Brrr, I may have to put the heater back on. Am I a bad person for giggling about snow tonight in Heber as the Family Gathering is set to take place? You'd think they'd learn to gather in the west desert instead of the mountains.

well, nice, start to the morning, and hi everyone!
News reports are that CA fish farms are going to transport millions of trout to high elevation lakes (like Bowman), to try to save them from the coming "too warm" water in the hatcheries........
so, if you're coming to the Hof, maybe think about fishing?

Hey, I just stopped in to say thanks for all the kind thoughts. Your responses have made feelings rise in me, I love you all, and for that, I hate you. I only enjoy being vulnerable in a satirical way. My quest here has been just as rewarding as my default world dating endeavors. The similarity is uncanny. "I would totally ... but I can't", "I would totally ... but I won't" All I know is that sometime before the year turns, I'm either going to be holding someone's hand or setting stuff on fire.
Don't put it past me to try and do both.
Okay, sunset time. Bye.

Hey gang
I'm going to have to stay on the sidelines this year. Ultimately, I think, for me TTITD may become an every-other-year adventure. Coming from this far, it really strains resources otherwise. The good news is that 2015 is already looking very likely! I am very much looking forward to meeting back up then!
Meanwhile, I'll hang out here and then join Moon and others in Camp Envy, think of you all, and wave from a distance.

Hi ASD.
Hi BVB......dang, sorry you'll miss, but, I'll hope to seeya next year! good on ya for knowing limits.
nice cool weather for summer here. It's probably helping delay the worst of fire season. But, as dry as it is,it's just a matter of time, before it's going full tilt, I'm sure.
I had to "convince" my neighbors to let me scrape a fire break behind their homes........I was doing mine with my backhoe loader bucket, and offered, thinking they'd say "sure, thanks". Instead I got a "well think about it and let you know........WTF? they are worried about killing waist high grass?

So much going on, sorry I have been out, been setting up a big house party for the summer solstice, we're doing Act 5 of Shakespeare's play about the same, snark & nonsense, outdoor revelry...
Sound familiar to anyone???

magnificent coffee! fine grind indeed. I have to remember which stores still have a reliable grind gauge on their in D.I.Y. bean mauler. Too fine, and no water gets through my machine(s) Rarely do the grinders have a finest ability left, but there are one or two out there. I've never experimented with a turkish coffee maker. That setting sometimes just produces adequate fine, sometimes, actual powder.
