Hello Everyone.
I am one of three hailing from Belgium. All of us are first timers and will be travelling through the US for up to 6 weeks.
I decided to attend Burning Man on a whim and asked my friends wanted to come and so, we make three.
We have so many questions, I don't know where to begin. Between the three of us, we have plenty of camping experience in tundra, mountains and plains, but the desert is new to us. We will probably rent a car but we won't have time or money to build air coolers, tipis or anything like that.
I am reading up on the FAQs, guides and tips, but that doesn't make the desert less intimidating. So I am glad I can snoop around here, see other peoples' concerns, and affirm that whatever happens, we won't be alone.

Re: Three Belgians on a Rock
For me, shade was really important. Being able to hang out in a cool place out of the sun meant the difference between hating and enjoying the event. So, food, bedding, water, shade, tent(?)
I dunno, I'm just trying to give you a bare-bones sense of what you might need.

It can be viewed as camping with a few extra needs.
Shade. as fishy mentioned. Heat and sun need specific attention.
You bring all your water. No taps or faucets there.
You pack out everything. No waste bins there. Leave no trace.
No drains either, you have to manage all your waste water.
And there's the wind: everything put away and tied down.
And dust!!!!
