Larry built an entire lean-to behind the garage just for burning gear, in addition to what is in the garage itself, the shed and the basement, and my work room.

I picked up some unsolicited demands on how to be an appropriate burner from a much more connected and knowledgeable burner. Something I didn't barter for... And I'm not even on the playa yet! I'm working it, ahead of schedule. I also ordered the pre-cooked bacon.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
My one item for BMan 2014 begins with this; reacquainting myself with eplaya after a far too long and very unwelcomed break from Burning Man. (Moved from California to Colorado, new job, new schools for kids, life, blah blah.)
Well, that and I also pulled out all of my playa dust covered shit from the garage and spread it out on the driveway to see what made the move with us, what was left behind, and what is still missing. I think we made our presence known to our new neighbors! I can just imagine it;
"Edith! Edith! Come over here and look at our neighbors. What in tarnation are they doing? They have enough solar lights to light up a runway! And what is with the bicycles? Who HAS bicycles like that? Do you think they are Communists?"

No, actually it's to keep the peace and avoid the annual forlorn looks, averting of eyes, and just audible sobbing sessions. No delivery, I have to pick them up from NY Container Camp....... if I remember.

I went through our gear, noted the couple of things we're missing (not many, hooray!), and will be picking those things up this weekend.

VC, I applaud you. I have all but given up on swag this year. (Please, please may I have just one sticker anyway.) I'm making furry bike seat covers and street signs. So what if I don't get to hand out necklaces, zipper pulls and key chains. I'll get to relieve some tired butts with foam padded furry seat covers. Plus I'll be putting up signs where the 'real' ones have disappeared. I love a thankless job. Save me a sticker and I'll come begging at the M&G.

Ratty, your a better beggar than I.. I to will be giving soft rides to sore butts..
I will be the Bear your ass camp.. Have one bag of teddy bears so far.. If anyone has a bear or two to spare bring them to the playa.. We will tie them on bike seats with paracord.. Any bear donations will help rid the playa of sore asses..

I will bring some to the M&G, but the rule is you must take more than one and gift the extra during Exodus.Ratty wrote:VC, I applaud you. I have all but given up on swag this year. I might have gone a teensy bit overboard this year with the swag.
I made about 90 furry scarves, I'll have approx 300 dog tags, 50 claw necklaces, the stickers and some assorted tags just for law enforcement.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Hooray for wrangling both the vehicle and the pet-sitting! We'd gotten our Burning Man arrangements made with friends who live a couple blocks away, and just the other day were able to get something sorted for the 4th of July holiday while we're off at a long weekend campout. Whew!
In the last week I'd gotten a few things done in the playa prep department. Ordered up (and received) the bottles for the limoncello I've been working on making, sorted out plans for labels, and worked out some minor camp logistics. I also got some time booked on a CNC machine for next week, I'll be making big camel cutouts for the wall displays out in front of our camp.

Thanks to suggestions from several directions, I just made and laminated an ICE card. Put all of the important numbers on the front and all of the people I'd want to contact if I end up in Reno, in the hospital, without my phone, on the back.
My goal is to not need it.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Good call. One of my campmates makes an ICE sheet for the camp each year and keeps it in our first aid kit. It's something we've never needed, but I'm glad we've had it just in case.
I got all my limoncello bottled up, and the labels designed and ordered. I also finished getting my designs ready and job files built for the CNC work I've got coming up this week, as well as checked in with the lumber yard to make sure they'll have the wood I want on hand.

We got out the shade cloth to begin testing a new setup. I'd forgotten we brought half the Playa dust home with us... We got all excited by the smell of the air and blindness in our eyes!
