Thanks for the kind thoughts the other day.. I appreciate it.

Well, I'm compelled to take on the task of painting the outside of the house. I have put it off for a summer or two, but it really needs to happen this time.

Summer is here, high upper 80's, into the 90's they say, for the first part of next week. But it is the high humidity here that is the worst part, it's a lot like sitting in a tent that has been lined with foil.

Yep fishy, there are a lot of fine folks that roam around these parts, and sharing the playa with them certainly makes for a glorious and absurdly fun experience. I'm sad that you also won't be going this year. Things just don't always work out how one would like, even with the best intent. I'm hoping that, for you, a little time off will be just the thing to place some distance where you need it, recharge your batteries, and allow you to reinvent the adventure. I'm pretty sure you still have quite a few good burns left in ya!

Wish I could make it to the Hof but its a bit too much in gas for not having a job.
Have fun everyone
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Good morning Burners...

Nice to hear it is hot somewhere. Seems like we get the occasional hour or two of no-rain here. Not complaining though, way better than -40. It is nice to not have ice on the ground for a change.

I hope all of you are frantically preparing your awesome cool projects for the burn. It is only 69 days till the man burns. Which translates to about 63 days until the gates open. EEP!

Still trying to negotiate BM vacation time. More than a little anxious as a result. I guess tomorrow will be the key, plan F (rev 2) - August 9-26, helping set up Gate road, the main gate, pt 2 gate until it transfers to the main gate, etc. hopefully getting some perimeter shifts in before having to head back. It is kinda inconsiderate of work to not gear their needs around my desired schedule

May your week be drama free.

Really now, yggy, I'm disappointed in you. You use some Hanna-Barbera cartoon hillbilly bears 'courtin' with disaster to make your point.

Rhino: my cartoon choice is just that. no agenda, other than the pure fun of simple laughter. You take it any way you will, and post to make your points any way you like.
But, do not mistakenly attach your issue to my cartoon.
I've been posting weekend morning cartoons here for years, with no agenda but smiles and giggles.

Had a real nice first day of summer. Picked up my buddy Bob and went to The Ramp. Ate breakfast (huevos rancheros) sitting across from famous literary beat Lawrence Ferlinghetti along the Bay front. Headed downtown for the Ethnic Dance Festival and watched beautiful and moving dances from Mexico, Peru, Philippians, Hawaii, Japan, a dance from Bali where the dancers were gods, and a belly dance that made me religious. Next, off to a pitcher of Margaritas and a combo plate in the Mission. Then downtown to see the talented, fun, gorgeous, righteous Angélique Kidjo bring down the house. She pulled dozens on stage to dance off with her percussionist, danced thru the whole auditorium, and sang a duet with a blind white woman pulled from the audience who had learned phonetically Angelique's songs in Yoruba, an African language. After, it was home to the dogs wagging tails with joy. What a day.

Had a lovely day yesterday, although it was little more than chores and errands, but Larry was home. We had two meals out, at least I had a salad for one. Got some plants which I need to go put in containers. my pansies are shot, so summer annuals are next. Saw an awesome huge black cat at Petsmart, too bad I already have four opinionated kitties. I would love to have a smallish panther.

My nephew got married. I know some of their families were hoping for a church wedding, but hey, I think Solstice counts!

Solstice counts for a lot, AntiM. Hope you all had good ones. We had a fantastic party with some very dear, very old friends, down on the water at my mother's. Wonderful fun. 8)

This week is shaping up as a tough one, though. Arrrrgghh :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Good morning bar!

Yggy and Rhino, thought of you guys on Saturday. I'm at my parents' house while they're away and they have an EPIC cable package. As I'm flipping through, looking for some good documentaries, I came across an interesting program about rock quarries.

It was only when the screen asked me to confirm my purchase that I realized "She Needs Huge Granite Shafts" was not what I was looking for.
